Key Responsibilities: Achieve safety, service, and cost goals within the Transportation department. Develop and implement short and mid-term departmental objectives. Contribute to strategic planning by identifying long-term strategies for improved operations. Promote and prioritize a culture of safety, ensuring the well-being of US Foods associates, customers, and the public. Mentor and develop Transportation Managers and staff through coaching and performance discussions. Enhance driver and transportation personnel development, engagement, and retention. Attract top talent and build high-performing teams through effective hiring practices. Drive the implementation of technology to boost operational performance and compliance with regulations. Monitor production targets, proactively troubleshoot delivery issues, and implement effective solutions. Enhance delivery processes to maximize reliability and efficiency while minimizing costs. Conduct thorough analysis of performance metrics and recommend changes to drive productivity improvements. Collaborate with HR and management on union provision interpretations and grievance resolutions. Perform additional duties as assigned by management. Supervision: Direct supervision over Transportation Managers and transportation associates. Indirect supervision over union and/or non-union drivers. Qualifications: High school diploma or GED required; college degree preferred. A minimum of 7 years in transportation or delivery management experience. Strong leadership, communication, and people development skills. Excellent knowledge of transportation operations, DOT regulations, and compliance requirements. Proficient in financial and operational data interpretation. Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Outlook, Teams). Travel: Approximately 10% travel needed for meetings and training. Physical Requirements: This role may require occasional physical activities, such as standing, walking, driving, lifting, and carrying. Specific weights and frequency include: Occasional lifting of up to 100 lbs. Frequent grasping and manipulating items (e.g., office equipment, hand trucks).
