Piedmont Heart Institute is seeking a highly skilled Thoracic Surgeon to co-lead the development of a new Lung Transplant program at Piedmont Atlanta Hospital, alongside the Transplant Pulmonology Medical Director. The successful candidate will establish and co-manage all aspects of the program, including patient evaluations, surgical procedures, and post-transplant care. This role involves working closely with a multidisciplinary team to ensure high-quality patient care.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Developing policies and procedures for the lung transplant program in accordance with CMS and UNOS/OPTN guidelines. Evaluating potential lung transplant candidates and determining their eligibility for surgery. Performing lung transplant surgeries and providing post-operative care. Coordinating with transplant coordinators, pulmonologists, anesthesiologists, and other healthcare providers for seamless patient care. Providing education and support to patients and families throughout the transplant process. Participating in research and quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient outcomes.
