Our client is seeking a Head of Tax to support tax reporting and tax compliance functions across a globally active organization. This individual will interface with senior members of the operations/finance team, investment team, third-party tax preparers, and legal/compliance advisors to support all phases of the tax reporting and compliance processes, including active oversight of tax preparation, creation and maintenance of schedules used for tax and book reporting, and assistance with various compliance reporting throughout the year.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
Oversee all aspects of the firm's direct and indirect tax obligations, including federal, state, local, and international tax compliance (i.e. PFIC and 1042 reporting)
Manage the preparation, review and filing of all tax returns, estimates, extensions, and related supporting schedules and documentation
Develop and maintain a tax deliverables timeline to disseminate tax estimates and K-1s to investors in an expedited manner
Assist in the distribution of tax materials/tax communications to investors
Implement and monitor tax planning strategies to optimize post tax returns for investors (i.e. QSBS tracking)
Maintain an understanding of organizational structures and the related tax impacts, as well as current developments in tax law that could affect tax reporting and decision making
Collaborate closely with external tax advisors and preparers
Prepare and review book and tax workpapers for various entities within the organization
Work with the accounting team to ensure accurate tax reporting of financial matters
Address tax queries from limited partners or potential limited partners as part of fundraising due diligence
Facilitate the completion of W-8s and AML/KYC requests from service providers
Assist with compliance filings including, but not limited to, Form ADV, Form PF, CIMA Fund Annual Return, and VAT returns
Support the operations, finance and investment teams with other tasks as necessary
QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Tax, Finance, or a related field; Master's degree in Taxation or CPA is preferred
7+ years of experience in relevant fields such as private equity/venture capital, public accounting, corporate tax/accounting, or investment banking
Solid understanding of partnership and individual tax law as it relates to investment vehicles
Strong technical knowledge of U.S. federal and state income tax laws, as well as a solid understanding of international tax principles
Intermediate to advanced bookkeeping skills and familiarity with fund accounting principles
Sound project management skills, highly organized and detail oriented, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines simultaneously
Excellent analytical and communication skills
Ability to work independently and engage with clients, staff and third-party service providers
Ability to meet the firm’s requirement of 4 days per week in the Washington, DC office with mandatory attendance on Mondays to support the firm’s management processes
Salary Range: up to $200,000 + bonus
