Summary:
The Creative Director is a strategic brand leader responsible for shaping and stewarding the creative direction of Swanson Health across all channels and touchpoints. This role combines visionary design leadership with brand storytelling, overseeing both visual and written content to ensure the brand shows up consistently and powerfully in the market.
Essential Responsibilities:
Creative Strategy & Brand Stewardship Lead the development of integrated creative strategies to support product launches, seasonal campaigns, brand storytelling, and demand generation across all marketing channels.
Define, evolve, and maintain Swansons brand identity, including visual and verbal guidelines (e.g., tone, style, messaging frameworks, design systems).
Spearhead brand transformation initiatives to evolve Swanson into a digitally forward, consumer-focused brand.
Bring consumer insights, market trends, and cultural cues into the creative process to keep the brand relevant and resonant.
Collaborate with senior marketing and ecommerce leaders to translate business priorities into high-impact creative campaigns.
Creative Operations & Team Leadership Manage and mentor a high-performing team of graphic designers, copywriters, proofreaders, and videographers, fostering creative excellence and professional development.
Lead cross-functional creative reviews across visual and written outputs, ensuring a high standard of clarity, cohesion, and impact.
Partner with the Marketing Operations Manager to prioritize projects, manage bandwidth, and streamline workflows across creative functions.
Align internal teamsincluding ecommerce, product, merchandising, and internationalwith campaign goals and deliverables.
Maintain productive, collaborative relationships with external brand, creative, and media agencies to ensure alignment and efficiency.
Executional Excellence Oversee the creation of best-in-class creative for digital ads, email, website, catalog, packaging, and branded contentincluding both design and copy.
Direct photo and video shoots, guiding visual asset development to ensure brand consistency and campaign effectiveness.
Craft compelling narratives and product stories that drive engagement and conversion across digital and print touchpoints.
Leverage data and consumer insights to iterate and optimize creative work for stronger performance across platforms.
Governance & Quality Control Maintain and enforce Swansons brand standards across all creative outputvisual, verbal, and experiential.
Ensure consistency across all customer-facing materials, including product labels, packaging, and printed collateral.
Oversee asset management systems for all creative files, ensuring easy access and version control across teams.
Maintain a positive and professional working relationship with peers, management, and support resources, with a constant commitment to teamwork and exemplary customer service.
Conducts self in the presence of customers and community so as to present a professional image of SHP.
Competencies Required:
Demonstrated success in brand transformation, taking brands to the next level with breakthrough, memorable creative concepts.
Proven leadership experience with brands that lead with digital as the main consumer touchpoint, including website, email, and social media.
Expertise in copy, design, photography, and video creative processes; experience managing multidisciplinary teams.
Successful track record collaborating with agencies on new creative concepts and brand work.
Strategic thinker with strong understanding of storytelling, messaging, and tone development across marketing platforms.
Able to solicit and incorporate feedback from a wide range of stakeholders while maintaining creative vision.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
Manages subordinate employee(s) who supervise employee(s); is responsible for the overall direction, coordination and evaluation of these units. Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems
Education and Experience:
Bachelor of Science degree in Marketing, Communications, Design, English or a related field with a minimum of 7 years experience in creative leadership roles. Or; an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential responsibilities and duties of the job as listed above.
