Summary
The Senior Medical Director, Medical Affairs will serve as a key strategic leader within the global medical affairs organization for general medicine. This role will be responsible for the development of and executing medical affairs and scientific strategies for the company's obesity, and metabolic programs.
The role includes being a thought partner with our clinical development colleagues for the purpose of driving innovative development strategies, HEOR, as well as being a collaborator with commercial colleagues, helping to ensure commercial strategies benefit from the medical insight of an experienced team of clinicians. The role will also include oversight of multiple programs instrumental to the successful medical introduction of new obesity and metabolism products, and the important medical support of these programs during their commercialization.
This individual will be a key representative of Medical Affairs to a range of audiences, including executive leadership, development partners if applicable, and will be a member of the Global Development Strategic Project Teams of the assigned assets.
The Senior Medical Director will report to the Executive Director, Medical Affairs, General Medicine, Obesity, and will play an essential role in advancing the company's medical affairs capabilities and scientific leadership internally and with external stakeholders.
A typical day of the Executive Director Medical Affairs, Obesity and Metabolism might look like:
Provide deep therapeutic area subject matter expertise to an expanding and advancing portfolio that will cover several molecules and therapeutic platforms
Collaborate and provide sound therapeutic area subject matter expertise to key stakeholders across Regeneron (and alliance partners as needed) including internal scientific colleagues, the Strategic Program Teams, as well as colleagues responsible for commercial strategies
Develop and implement comprehensive medical affairs strategies aligned with business objectives and therapeutic area needs
Lead the design and execution of Medical Impact Plans (MIPs) in collaboration with cross-functional teams
Provide strategic medical direction for assigned therapeutic areas or products throughout their lifecycle
Establish and execute long-term vision for medical affairs initiatives that support product value propositions
Ensures that the best practices and learnings from variety of general medicine programs are shared across the cross functional team to minimize "reinventing the wheel" and to promote a vibrant collaborative environment
Standing or ad-hoc membership for various cross-functional and cross-alliance teams; providing medical perspectives to the global and US strategic and medical organizations
This role might be for you if:
MD in relevant scientific discipline
Proven track record of leadership in the medical field with increasing levels of responsibility
Demonstrated ability to develop and implement successful medical strategies
Travel requirements: 30-40% domestic and international travel
This position may require occasional weekend work for conferences or meetings
