The Senior Director of Procurement is responsible for developing and implementing a procurement strategy for the organization while leading a team of Procurement professionals. This involves analyzing current and future needs, developing and executing strategic sourcing strategies, negotiating the prices and terms and ensuring the quality and compliance standards across the organization. Monitor market trends, competitors, and risks, and adjust the strategy accordingly. Set Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and metrics to measure and report on the procurement performance and efficiency .
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Develop and implement a comprehensive procurement strategy aligned with business objectives and financial targets
Manage team of Procurement professionals responsible for Capital and Operational Expenditures
Drive cost reduction initiatives while maintaining high-quality supplier performance and innovation.
Manage supplier selection, negotiations, and contract execution to optimize supply chain value.
Establish and track key procurement metrics (KPIs) to ensure cost efficiency and supply chain effectiveness.
Collaborate with internal stakeholders and Senior Leadership Team on objectives and results.
Identify and implement best practices in procurement processes, systems, and tools.
Develop and mentor a team of procurement professionals to drive performance and continuous improvement.
Create and manage sourcing policies to execute on business strategies and cost savings targets
Negotiate, develop and manage national and local Procurement contracts, with a particular focus on Construction categories.
Develop supplier management strategies and SLAs aligned with Company interests. Leverage technology to manage.
Lead value engineering efforts to ensure stores are being built cost effectively.
Develop and manage programs to accurately forecast and track Capital expenditures for new store opening activities
Assist in implementation of new Sourcing and Contracts Software package
Work in conjunction with Business Development to provide accurate forecasting data to aid in bid development
Identify areas of cost control opportunity across the P&L
Provide financial deal analysis for major Company expenditures
Develop Total Cost of Ownership models
Occasional operation support providing assistance on purchasing related issues
Develop, maintain and distribute ad-hoc reports and financial models as needed
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:
Experience in Construction or Operations within the retail or restaurant industry a plus.
Experience with Procurement/Sourcing tools
Excellent Communication and Leadership skills
Strong initiative and ability to manage multiple projects as well as strong follow through skills
Must be detail oriented with strong organizational and analytical skills
Strong desire to learn and impact the business
Ability to work well and influence others in fast paced, dynamic environment
Leadership & Executive Presence
Broader organizational influence and executive-level collaboration.
Represent procurement in executive leadership meetings, influencing enterprise-level decisions and aligning procurement objectives with overall company strategy.
Governance, Risk, and Compliance (GRC)
Ensure procurement processes are compliant with legal, financial, and regulatory standards. Lead supplier risk assessments and implement mitigation plans.
Cross-Functional Partnership
Partner cross-functionally with Legal, Finance, Operations, and IT to align sourcing strategies, ensure contract compliance, and support enterprise initiatives.
Strategic Supplier Partnerships
Cultivate strategic supplier relationships to drive joint innovation, risk-sharing models, and continuous value delivery.
Succession Planning & Talent Strategy
Build a strong procurement bench through succession planning, targeted development programs, and competency-based talent assessment.
Clarity in Capital vs. Indirect Spend Ownership
Oversee strategic sourcing and spend management across both capital (construction) and indirect procurement categories, including marketing, professional services, and technology.
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
Bachelor's degree required
Minimum of 5 years’ experience in Procurement or Sourcing.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Must be able to sit, stand, and/or walk for extended periods of time.
May require some lifting up to 20 lbs.
