Job Summary: The Sr. Director of Data Analytics runs the organization’s data and analytics core competency. This position works with stakeholders across the organization to develop, maintain, and pioneer data and analytics solutions that enable faster, effective, deliberate decisions that improve customer experiences, empower colleagues, and support the bottom-line. This role is also the primary data evangelist in the organization and works to promote a data-forward, self-serve analytics culture at CandleScience. This includes managing the analytics team and leading/training others in the organization how to responsibly use data to make better decisions.
Duties/Responsibilities: Assists with recruiting, interviewing, hiring, and training new staff. Oversees the daily workflow of the department. Provides constructive and timely performance evaluations. Assists with discipline and termination of employees in accordance with company policy. Design, build, and maintain a durable, flexible, and secure, data ecosystem that includes data from a myriad of sources including data warehouses and cloud storage, APIs, SaaS platforms, and even local files like excel spreadsheets/google sheets Ensure clear documentation and lineage is maintained that supports auditing, collaboration, and troubleshooting throughout the system Collaborate with stakeholders across the business to regularly assess needs and surface analysis opportunities Serve as the primary Administrator of the organization’s BI deployment (Looker) and ensure users have access to the data they need while maintaining security around sensitive data like financial records Manage data infrastructure/cloud costs, continually looking for ways to improve efficiency and performance Develop, architect, propose, and implement core data engineering, business intelligence, and data warehouse frameworks, systems, and best practices in support of key company data initiatives including: forecasting and predictive analysis, CAC/LTV and customer profiling, fulfillment and warehouse optimization, inventory productivity, marketing performance and attribution, financial audits and modeling, and more. Plays an active role in budgeting and forecasting the business and working with key leaders in predicting future activities and results

Strong leadership and team management skills. Moderate to advanced SQL capabilities. Moderate to advanced experience with cloud databases, database table structure, ETL/ELT and data modeling (PostgreSQL and Google BigQuery) Advanced experience using and administrating enterprise-class BI deployments in a medium-to-large business context (Looker) Advanced experience with SaaS APIs and data pipeline architecture Moderate to advanced analysis capabilities using tools like Looker/BI environments, SQL IDEs, Excel/Google sheets, python, and R. Fundamental understanding of core machine learning and A.I. concepts Fundamental literacy in statistical analysis and test design
Education and Experience: Bachelor’s Degree and at least 10+ years of relevant work experience
Physical Requirements: Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer
Work Environment: Indoor office environment
