Reporting to the Vice President of Domestic EOHS, this role is an integral part of the UnitedHealth Group EOHS leadership team. Collaborating with senior leaders, this position will spearhead the development and implementation of systems, programs, and solutions necessary to fulfill UnitedHealth Group's Operational and Enterprise EOHS vision and strategy. In addition to leading experts, this role actively ensures compliance with federal, state, and local regulations while fostering key regulatory and industry partnerships.
Leadership and accountability to collaborate with multiple layers of management and senior level staff to develop the EOHS strategic plan and achieve results for the following:
United Health Group - Enterprise Functions
Corporate Services (including Real Estate, Procurement, Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG), Mergers & Acquisitions)
Aviation, Sustainability/ESG, Corporate Security (including Enterprise Resiliency), People Team, Finance, Legal, etc.
Optum Technology
United Healthcare
Canada & Puerto Rico operations
Primary Responsibilities:
Create and execute an annual EOHS operational plan to accomplish various Segment and Enterprise Strategic expectations
Ensure compliance with Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), Occupational Safety & Health Administration (OSHA), Department of Transportation (DOT), and other regulatory agencies
Develop solutions that utilize data, technology, and partnerships with to transform engagement and EOHS performance
Engage with executive presence, emotional intelligence, and have a conform of uncertainty while delivering results
Direct others, maintain compliance, and resolve highly complex or unusual problems
Be an EOHS leader, coach, and mentor
Set the tone and bring a culture of learning and continuous improvement to life
Lead across the enterprise & foster relationships with critical executive stakeholders
Monitor and report on key EOHS performance metrics, ensuring continuous improvement
Manage relationships with regulatory bodies and execute timely submission of required reports and notifications
Maintain thorough understanding of health and safety regulations/requirements and be recognized as a technical expert in this area
Take an active role in continuously improving the UnitedHealth Group EOHS Management System while engaging with Segments and Businesses to implement its requirements
Solve issue effectively and escalate after clearly identifying issues and attempting to resolve them
Manage team budget
Collaborate with other UnitedHealth Group entities to benchmark and enhance overall EOHS compliance and systems
Conduct site visits, where applicable
Perform other duties as assigned

Required Qualifications:
12+ years of experience in Environmental, Occupational Health & Safety, or related fields
5+ years of experience leading high-performing teams
Demonstrated ability to manage multiple locations and influence cross-functional teams
Proven executive presence with experience influencing leadership decisions/actions
Proven solid analytical skills with expertise in internally developed or ISO-equivalent EOHS Management Systems
Proven excellent written and verbal communication skills, proficient in Microsoft Office applications
Willingness to travel as required
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience in the healthcare or insurance industry
Demonstrated experience in managing organizational growth and change
The salary range for this role is $, to $, annually based on full-time employment.
