Youth Tennis Advantage is a non-profit organization, founded over 50 years ago, dedicated to enriching the lives  of youth ages 8-18 living in underserved communities. Carrying on the vision and legacy of tennis  great Arthur Ashe, YTA provides free tennis, educational and life skills programs. Our mission is to help close opportunity and achievement gaps for under-resourced youth in the San Francisco Bay A rea through comprehensive tennis, academic and enrichment programs, seeking to promote the physical, educational, and life skills necessary to prepare and empower them to reach their full potential. Y TA is part of the National Junior Tennis League ("NJTL") network. In 1969, the NJTL was created as a way to teach youth the importance of character, getting an education and becoming productive citizens. Today, the NJTL network features more than 270 nonprofit youth development organizations that offer free or low-cost tennis and education programming to over 160,000 under-resourced youth each year. POSITION SUMMARY Objective : The Site Director will lead and manage the day-to-day activities of the YTA program at  one of our Bay Area after-school and summer camp sites. They must be able to manage the staff and  provide school-based after-school programming to youth. They are also responsible for executing  YTA program curriculum in a quality manner, supervising YTA instructors and volunteers. T hey must have a strong commitment to children. Must be willing to learn and implement new strategies to inspire students to be positive, thoughtful, and motivated to work hard. This position will work  collaboratively with the Lead Tennis Instructor or the Lead Academic & Life Skills Coach to help  make sure the youth receive both tennis and academic instruction. The site director also has responsibility for recruiting students and coaches, and coordinating and communicating with parents. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Oversee a high-quality youth development program that incorporates YTA's mission and Arthur Ashe values of sportsmanship, honor and integrity. Ensure engaging activities and a positive learning experience with tennis and academic instructors, and serving as an additional tennis coach or academic coach /mentor during program hours when possible Create site schedules for after-school, summer,  spring break, winter break, etc. Responsible for the appearance and safety of the facility . 5. Encourage staff to have YTA logos observable at all times (hat, sweatshirts, etc.) 6. Ensure regular student attendance and track attendance. 7. Keep track of your staff working hours and report them to Director of Program and Academic Operations in a timely manner each pay period 8. Handle annual activities from the USTA Foundation and other organizations (e.g., National Essay Contest, tracking family expenses for the Individual Player Grant, helping nominate YTA candidates for programs such as the Wild Card tournaments, College Pathway Workshops and Amex Excellence Cup, Battle of the Bay ballkids, etc.). 9. Organize match play such as Junior Team Tennis (JTT) against other sites or clubs. 10. Represent YTA at various community and YTA designated functions and/or events as  required by the Director of Tennis and Academic Operations. 11. Help with fundraising and marketing including hosting visitors to the site and providing information (e.g.,
number of new, returned students, hours of tennis and academic activities).
Must be able to effectively carry out program operations and policies, and keep all required administrative records and files to achieve program goals and meet needed requirements. 13. A ssist with recruiting and hiring of tennis and academic instructors/mentors as needed. 14. Act as a YTA liaison to community partners such as schools, park and recreation departments, etc. 15. Assist in recruiting new YTA students and help facilitate online registration. 16. Communicate any issues to the Director of Tennis and Academic Operations.
KNOWLEDGE/EXPERIENCE/SKILLS Strong leadership, interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills. Demonstrated cultural competency, understanding and sensitivity Demonstrated ability to relate to young people and staff as a positive adult role model. P referred experience working with children from diverse backgrounds. 5. Ability to maintain confidentiality and use appropriate discretion. 6. Proficiency with Zoom, Google docs/sheets, and Excel, etc., and a willingness to learn new programs and data collection systems as needed such as LeagueApps for student registration and programs like Hello Insight for USTA data collection. 7. A strong work ethic that includes being punctual and professional at all times EDUCATION OR CERTIFICATIONS: Must be Safe Play certified and pass a YTA Background Check/Live Scan fingerprinting. Bachelor's Degree required. CPR certification is required. COMPENSATION: $30 - $50/hr. Depending on skills, training/certifications and experience . 3 hours per weekday.
