Senior Tax Manager/Director
New Today
Lead A Modern Tax Team Without The Burnout
Our Client is adding a Tax Senior Manager or Director to own a meaningful book, lead a sharp team of associates and manager on a hybrid basis, and partner directly with firm leadership. This is not a review-from-afar role. It is a leadership seat with real client impact, modern tools, and a sane approach to busy season.
Why this is different
Hybrid leadership that actually leads
No outsourcing, all prep and projects are done in-house
Real runway for growth as this role is being vacated due to a promotion
Capacity planning that fixes the crunch without heroics
What you will do
Lead delivery for a defined client book across complex business returns (predominantly pass-through entities) and individual returns
Manage staffing, workflow, and deadlines so quality wins without chaos
Review complex returns and workpapers, translate findings for clients in clear language
Coach managers and staff on technical depth, client communication, and project ownership
Run point on tax planning, estimates, and IRS notice responses
Partner with leadership on resourcing, pricing, and process improvements
Use modern communication tools to keep work moving
What makes this different
Hybrid leadership so you actually see the work and the people you lead consistently, allowing for more opportunity to build that cohesive, connective tissue
No outsourcing, quality is built in-house, and skills grow in-house
Real leadership runway as a current tax leader transitions to a new role outside of tax
Busy seasons managed by capacity planning, not burnout
What you bring
8-10 years MINIMUM with at least five years as a Tax Manager, ideally already operating at the Senior Manager level. That being said, our client is more concerned about career trajectory and upside potential than they are about a title on your current resume
Strong pass-through, closely held, and high-net-worth individual tax experience
A client-facing demeanor that inspires confidence and simplifies complexity
Proven project management and delegation across multiple deadlines
High integrity, high ownership, steady under pressure
Compensation and path
DOE, base range is anywhere from $150-190K plus bonus
90-day checkpoint with KPIs and tied to upside comp growth
Work setup
Hybrid work setup with the expectation of being in the office 2-3 days per week at our client’s North Dallas office location
If you are ready to step out of a constricting, stereotypical office culture that is stuck with an old-school leadership mindset of managing vs. leading, and are driven with an attitude of 'Let's Get SXXT Done,' then reach out and let's talk about how your experience and goals might align with this firm.
