We are excited to invite applications for the role of Senior Medical Director within Clinical Development. This pivotal position involves overseeing a comprehensive range of dermatology and autoimmune clinical drug development activities, from discovery research through first-in-human trials, proof-of-concept studies, and Phase 3 studies. You will lead one or more assets in our portfolio, working closely with a dynamic cross-functional asset team to leverage your clinical expertise and successfully advance our clinical programs and overall asset strategy.
Key Responsibilities:
Serve as a senior leader and spokesperson for Clinical Development, representing Alumis in the fields of Dermatology and Immunology.
Lead the management and oversight of the global ESK-001 Phase 3 program in plaque psoriasis.
Influence cross-functional teams within Research, Biomarkers, Medical Affairs, Commercial, Regulatory, and Business Development by providing expert insights within Dermatology and immune-mediated inflammatory diseases (IMID).
Design and develop clinical studies and coordinate cross-functional initiatives.
Provide strategic support and implement clinical strategies across early- and late-stage development programs.
Engage with early development teams to explore innovative scientific inquiries, including new indications and line extensions for our development pipeline.
Collaborate with Business Development colleagues on due diligence opportunities that enhance both early- and late-stage development collaborations, including co-development opportunities and acquisitions.
Inspire, coach, and support team members to achieve business goals through an entrepreneurial and collaborative approach.
Uphold the highest standards of integrity and scientific inquiry in drug development.
Work closely with Contract Research Organizations (CROs) to provide medical monitoring oversight for the Phase 3 program.
Qualifications and Skills:
MD or an equivalent international degree with board certification or eligibility in Immunology or a related specialty, coupled with over 5 years of drug development experience.
A recognized R&D expert with the ability to interface with Key Opinion Leaders, external health organizations, and regulators in Dermatology.
Proven leadership experience managing professionals in a pharmaceutical or clinical/academic environment.
Ability to effectively collaborate in a cross-functional setting.
Exceptional interpersonal, influencing, presentation, and communication skills (both written and verbal) to engage effectively at all organizational levels.
Strong ability to assess, understand, and convey continually evolving medical and scientific information, along with awareness of commercial dynamics impacting drug development.
Sound business acumen, with the capability to collaborate with cross-functional partners to achieve organizational objectives.
Effective negotiation skills facilitating influence without direct authority.
Demonstrated strategic, organizational, and executional skills to manage project planning across multiple initiatives, prioritizing effectively in a high-stakes environment.
Experience working in diverse teams within a matrixed organizational structure, both as a leader and collaborator.
Organized approach to deliverables with meticulous attention to detail, capable of meeting deadlines in a fast-paced setting.
Ability to operate autonomously with a high level of independence.
Publication record related to work.
The salary range for this position is $325,000 to $358,000 annually, though actual compensation may vary based on Alumis' compensation practices.
This role is based at our South San Francisco, CA office, and employees are expected to be onsite Tuesday to Thursday. We are not accepting remote applicants at this time.
