The Senior Medical Director – Health Engagement & Access will report to the VP, Chief Psychiatric Officer and Chief Health Engagement Officer. This business-oriented physician leader is responsible for setting direction and implementing strategies to amplify member/patient engagement, reduce health disparities and promote equitable healthcare access and outcomes for patients, members, providers, customers, and the communities served across all lines of the CVS Health business.
The Senior Medical Director – Health Engagement & Access will utilize analytics to shape business strategies and direct resources towards populations with the greatest barriers to engagement. Additionally, the Senior Medical Director – Health Engagement & Access will work collaboratively with health care communities to advance health engagement so health care can work better for everyone, regardless of background, age, gender, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, geography, race/ethnicity, or socioeconomic status .
Primary Responsibilities:
Serve as the enterprise clinical thought leader in all Health Engagement areas related to CVS Health’s patients, members, providers, customers, and communities.
Responsible for the creation and maintenance of Enterprise Health Engagement and Access Strategy
Engage, inform and collaborate with executive leadership on a regular basis the Health Engagement and Access strategy effectiveness, outcomes and opportunities.
Lead and develop a high-performing team of Health Engagement experts, providing strategic direction, coaching and performance oversight to drive engagement.
Advance thinking, collaboration, research and strategy across Medical Affairs stakeholders regarding Health Engagement.
Lead the integration of demographic and SDOH data into business products / models. Standardize data collection through screenings.
In collaboration with stakeholders, develop targeted interventions that aim to improve access to care, enhance the quality of care, and promote better health outcomes for underserved populations.
Lead implementation efforts to integrate health engagement into clinical protocols, workflows, and value-based care programs.
Partner/collaborate with enterprise business and health engagement leaders across CVS Health lines of business.
Provide leadership for community involvement and foster alliances and partnerships to strengthen CVS Health’s care and service models.
Drive strong relationships with communities we serve and community groups to identify inequities and increase equity for our customers. Listen to and engage the community to prioritize and drive our strategies. Listen to, and give voice to, emergent issues of Equity within the health system, local community, and nationally as it affects the health quality, cost and access for historically under-served communities.
Expand Health Engagement and Access Center of Excellence with focus areas such as Medicare Stars ratings, RFP and regulatory support, SDOH knowledge, clinical program review, research and more.
Required Qualifications:
10+ years of experience working in a health plan or health care delivery setting leading population health or health engagement strategies.
8+ years leadership experience
Proven media training and experience
Experience executing on community-based pilot programs/ public health programs
Demonstrated knowledge of health engagement best practices and principles, ideally with experience integrating health engagement into organizational structures.
Expertise in Medicaid and Medicare policy, ideally with experience working within a health plan.
Demonstrated experience working with provider networks to improve health outcomes, ideally working in a value-based care
setting.
Ability to connect and tie initiatives and concepts across multiple business functions and align to data and measurement goals.
Ability to travel as necessary.
Education:
MD/DO required
Active Board Certification required
Pay Range
The typical pay range for this role is:
$184,112.00 - $396,550.00
This pay range represents the base hourly rate or base annual full-time salary for all positions in the job grade within which this position falls. The actual base salary offer will depend on a variety of factors including experience, education, geography and other relevant factors. This position is eligible for a CVS Health bonus, commission or short-term incentive program in addition to the base pay range listed above. This position also includes an award target in the company’s equity award program.
