Provides communications and strategic expertise on various initiatives aligned with marketing and sales strategies, company vision and business priorities. RelationshipsThis position reports to the Director, Commercial Communications and is an individual contributor. This position will interact with Marketing and Sales leaders, marketing leaders and other areas across NNI and at times, NN/AS. Key external relationships include patients, professional and patient/consumer third party groups; media, and public relations agencies, vendors, freelancers and the management thereof. Essential FunctionsCommercial CommunicationsDrives the development and implementation of proactive communications and media relations strategies to enhance the business goals and strategies of Novo Nordisk, branded or unbranded and aligned to specific business objectivesManages a varied portfolio of commercial communications priorities in a dynamic and highly competitive landscape. Confidently navigates the complex pharmaceutical environment, engaging with cross-functional stakeholders and operating as key communications point of contact for brandsWorks with Communications leads to develop and implement communication plans and publicize business milestones within the Commercial businesses and more broadly across the EnterpriseDevelops short and long-term strategic functional plans for brands within Marketing (Diabetes and Obesity), Rare Disease, and pipeline and future business / therapeutic areas, when necessary. Includes brand-building, market development and market-shaping initiativesPartners on efforts to drive positive media coverage for Novo Nordisk and helps develop responses to media inquiries in business, financial and consumer press to protect and enhance visibility of the company and its brands, in coordination with Media Relations and Reputation leadProvides communications counsel and subject matter expertise, partnering with Issues Management Lead to proactively plan for issues across portfolio. Supports development of brand / therapeutic area issues management plans, reactive statements, messaging platforms and communications, as neededDevelops plans and implements initiatives tied to sponsorships and partnerships tied directly to Novo Nordisk and brandsWorks with Lead to create meaningful programs, branded and non-branded, with celebrities, influencers and patient ambassadors for Novo NordiskApplies commercial and broader enterprise strategies and market insights to planning and daily workCoordinates cross-functionally within the NNI Communications department to create content for non-branded and branded corporate and social media channels. Ensures all programming is done compliantly, with close partnerships with legal, regulatory, compliance and medicalPipeline CommunicationsAccountable for the development and implementation of communications programs and public relations strategies for pipeline products pre- and post-launch, assisting the Lead. Includes directing U.S. media and advocacy strategies for Food & Drug Administration (FDA) advisory committee meetingsMeasurementDesigns and delivers initiatives with measurable impact and key performance indicators which drive business and enterprise goals. Charts progress and adjusts plans/tactics accordingly, holds agencies accountable for delivering on measurement targets. Accountable for executing programs within budget parameters, directing the activities of external public relations agencies Physical Requirements10-20% overnight travel required. QualificationsA Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution is required. Advanced degree preferredA minimum of 10 years of corporate communications and media relations experience required. Candidates with 8+ years of experience accompanied by an advanced degree can be consideredExperience in a public relations agency environment and/or the pharmaceutical industry preferred. Experience in sales or another marketing function will be consideredAbility to work autonomously, under tight timelines, in what can be a stressful environment with limited planning or preparationAbility to demonstrate strategic planning, problem solving skills and business writingExpertise in brand, regulatory milestone, data and market development/disease awareness communicationProven ability to effectively manage projects and influence individualsAble to work effectively in a cross-functional, collaborative environment with global as well as regional considerations and, sometimes, political implicationsProven understanding of direct executional experience with social media platforms and digital strategies The base compensation range for this position is $, to $,. Base compensation is determined based on a number of factors. This position is also eligible for a company bonus based on individual and company performance.
