Job Description
Scope of Job: This position is responsible for developing and managing relationships with key government and non-commercial clients, with particular focus on commercial accounts, in alignment with the business’ strategic plan. The individual will also be responsible for generating sales volume while maintaining and delivering profitability targets established for the customer(s) they are responsible for. Drives retention and growth among customers by understanding the business needs. Has detailed knowledge of products offered and ensures product consistently meets requirements. Maintains a cadence of communicating with customers to ensure satisfaction and ongoing contract renewal. Advises internal teams of product improvements/suggestions based on client feedback. The position reports directly to the Vice President of Contract Manufacturing and collaborates closely with cross-functional teams to achieve business objectives.
Essential Job Functions and Responsibilities:
- Serve as the primary point of contact for commercial customers. Develop and maintainer relationships with key decision makers for all accounts.
- Conduct regular business reviews with current clients to ensure alignment within the account, but also identify future growth opportunities.
- Identify, evaluate, and develop new business opportunities to expand business with both existing and new customers and increase profitability within business development framework.
- Negotiate terms of contracts and business initiatives to achieve mutually beneficial results for client and organization.
- Gain understanding of existing assets, capabilities, and utilization to optimize network and grow and maintain in-market competitive advantage.
- Plan and oversee new sales initiatives to attract and retain customers.
- Attain volume and profitability budget targets established for assigned portfolio.
- Prepare regular reports of progress and forecasts to internal and external stakeholders.
- Driving pricing strategies consistent with Price Board approvals and contract terms.
- Serve as a link of communication between key customers and internal teams.
- Possessing, documenting, and sharing extensive knowledge of current market conditions and relevant categories for continuous improvement with people, products, and process.
- Function as internal liaison with cross-functional teams in Product Development, Procurement, Operations, Food Safety and Quality Assurance, and Thermal Processing in the development and commercialization of new and existing products.
- Utilize CRM tool to track account activities, pipeline management, and forecasting.
- Represent company in trade or networking events to further enhance image and develop additional business.
- Collaborate with production and supporting departments to ensure the food safety and quality of our products.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Education: High School diploma required, post-secondary education or coursework a plus.
Experience: 5-10+ years of experience in product development, process development, food manufacturing operations, sales, and marketing or similar experience in food related industry. Expertise in government/humanitarian food industry including pricing strategies, client relations and needs assessment, category management, administration, and supervision of brokers. Preferred experience in co-manufacturing.
