About the Role: As a Global Research and Development (R&D) leader within Global Operations, you will lead product development, support and sustainment of electronic medical equipment (EME). This role will partner closely with business and R&D leaders to identify and execute projects that improve product performance, reduce COGS, and address field, quality or other Supply Chain issues while ensuring compliance with all relevant regulatory standards.

This is a hybrid position (in office minimum three days per week) based in one of our BSC locations in Minnesota or Marlborough, MA

Key Responsibilities:

  • Strategy: Develop and implement the overall strategy for the EME global organization, ensuring alignment with the company's long-term goals and objectives
  • People Management: Build and mentor high-performing team. Lead and manage geographically dispersed, cross-functional R&D teams by fostering collaboration and communication across different cultures and time zones. Direct functional/site R&D leaders and their teams to identify and deliver on EME projects.
  • Product/Technology Development: Leverage their strong understanding of engineering principles and manufacturing processes and extensive experience in the design, development, and commercialization of medical equipment to direct staff in in technical approaches that accelerate development, manages technical risk, create reusable components/microservices, etc.
  • Project/Program Management: Directs and trains key project management processes; develops and implements business unit plan; builds team ownership and commitment to project and business plans. Sponsors professional development of project/program managers.
  • Process Management: Actively leads and reviews TDP/PDP, policy, and practice improvements to drive functional excellence; influences cross-functional and cross-divisional systems effectiveness.
  • Communications and Reviews: Responsible for department-level communications, liaison between the business unit and the PIB; participates in phase and business reviews; reviews IBPs; defines and tracks key business unit metrics. Actively influences cross-functional collaboration.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or applicable technical field.
  • 10+ years' engineering or technical experience in large capital equipment which includes complex electromechanical systems related firmware and software across entire Product Life Cycle Process in the Medical Device industry.
  • 5+ years of experience in IoT or connected systems
  • 5+ years' experience managing large global R&D teams
  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally as required (up to 25%).

Preferred Qualifications:

  • MS or other advanced degree
  • Strong preference for someone who has worked in multiple functions and brings a holistic set of experiences to the role.
  • Experience leading others in APAC, Europe and the United States is preferred.
  • Strong record of working globally and cross-functionally across an organizational matrix and history of building strong stakeholder relationships.
  • Previous experience in partnering with or building on products and service using leading cloud service providers and related data analytics platform a significant plus. A forward thinker who connects with an external network and actively tracks and implements applicable trends in research and technologies.
  • Significant customer experience, collaboration and interface customer field visits, innovation visits, etc.
  • Ability to understand and connect authentically with all levels and types of employees. Drive high level of employee engagement leading through our BSC behaviors and build a culture of high performance, learning, continuous improvement, and leading diversity and inclusion.
  • Proven ability to drive change across org/job design, processes, and human capital capabilities.
  • Ability to manage cost center and project related budgets.

Compensation will be commensurate with demonstrable level of experience and training, pertinent education including licensure and certifications, among other relevant business or organizational needs.
