Overview
The Senior Director of Product Management oversees the Compliance, Quality, and Safety multi-product family portfolio and is responsible for the execution of the overall product portfolio roadmap and business plan. This includes both an understanding of, and leading, the investment strategy for the line of business and maintaining that strategy. This role will work closely with other leaders to understand needs from Engineering, Marketing, Sales, Customer Success, and Operations to ensure the financial, sales and customer retention goals are met. The Senior Director will guide and execute the overall Product Strategy by building a department of strong individuals and processes to fulfill the responsibilities necessary for success.
Duties & Responsibilities
Ensure the product mix and the product priorities support the company’s overall strategy and goals, and that the product and engineering organization stays aligned to the set goals.
Create and align the portfolio product roadmaps with the company’s overall go-to-market and product strategies
Participate as a member of a cross-functional team as the representative of all products within the portfolio
Refine and execute plans for migrations from legacy applications to new applications.
Prioritize product releases in a way that accelerates value delivery to customers and moves toward the vision for the product portfolio
Work with the senior leadership team and cross-functional leaders across the organization as needed to develop and execute a product strategy across the organization
Attract, develop, and lead a team of Product Managers, Product Owners and Business Analysts and guide the team in making strategic product decisions based on sound research
Utilize symplr-defined processes and tested frameworks like Pragmatic Marketing and Stage-Gate to guide product development efforts
Work with the entire organization to ensure commitments are fulfilled on time and the cross-functional business unit is prepared for software releases.
Have a communication plan to report progress easily and transparently on the roadmap, priorities, issues, and launch activity to all internal stakeholders.
Be the ‘voice of the customer’ for outside stakeholders to ensure that their needs are met.
Work directly with sales and customers to understand their needs, respond to questions, and adjust product plans as needed to grow the business
Partner with product marketing to create and facilitate customer advisory board meetings and support product managers with the creation of customer collaboration boards
Create and maintain a cross-departmental Product Council
Follow the PDLC framework for new product development efforts, product enhancements, and end of life planning, and adjust to process improvements as they are introduced
Manage product end-of-life decisions and take steps to shut down those applications
Identify and execute opportunities to improve quality across our product portfolio including application development, implementations, and maintenance activities
Track the overall product management budget
Create business cases for new product development efforts and/or partnerships to enhance product’s competitive position and/or support sales opportunities
Write funding proposals for additional development resources
Identify, investigate, and report key metrics driving product success
Skills Required

Bachelor’s degree
10+ years’ experience in Product Management or Product Strategy leadership position
8+ years’ experience in developing people and managing high performing teams
Proven experience leading a Product Management team and mentoring Product leaders
Experience bringing new software products to market
Curiosity and creativity
Experience in management of a roadmap and tracking overall strategic direction
Healthcare industry knowledge
Strong business acumen
Qualifications Preferred:
Master’s or other advanced degree
Proficient at using Aha! or similar tools for product management
Product Management experience in an Agile setting
Experience with Compliance, Quality, and Safety applications and healthcare needs
Experience with big data, analytics, and SaaS applications
