Zelis is seeking a transformative Senior Director of Automation Engineering to lead our enterprise automation strategy. This critical leadership role will oversee the end-to-end lifecycle of RPA programs across the organization, with a specific focus on scaling and optimizing UiPath-based solutions. You will be responsible for restructuring and growing a high-performing Robotic Process Automation (RPA) team, delivering measurable outcomes through intelligent automation, and embedding RPA capabilities into the DNA of our business operations.

Lead, restructure, and scale Zelis’ Robotic Process Automation practice, with direct oversight of internal and external UiPath development teams.
Set the strategic vision for enterprise automation, aligning it with business outcomes and stakeholder needs across product, operations, and technology.
Refactor existing RPA teams and processes , identifying opportunities to increase velocity, standardize frameworks, and improve reliability.
Build and manage a high-performing RPA Center of Excellence (CoE) including solution architects, developers, and business analysts.
Champion a robust automation pipeline intake and prioritization process , working cross-functionally with senior business leaders to ensure alignment with corporate objectives.
Define and enforce best practices for automation development, including exception handling, logging, security, and reusability with compliance in mind, operating within HIPAA, PCI, and other regulatory frameworks.
Drive the adoption of UiPath’s platform capabilities , including Automation Hub, Orchestrator, Studio, and AI Center.
Monitor and report on automation performance metrics (ROI, accuracy, time savings) and continuously optimize for scale.
Evaluate and integrate intelligent automation tools ( AI/ML, OCR, NLP ) to augment RPA workflows.
Serve as a thought leader, strategic partner, and advocate for automation across the organization.
Qualifications and Experience
10+ years of experience in technology leadership roles, with 5+ years in RPA leadership roles .
Proven expertise in UiPath implementation at scale , including advanced knowledge of UiPath Orchestrator, Studio, and governance models.
Demonstrated experience transforming teams and automation delivery processes , building from the ground up or offering measurable improvements to established functions.
Strong experience leading cross-functional teams, with a track record of building and mentoring high-performing RPA teams.
Experience leading vendor partnerships and managing global development resources.
Familiarity with Agile/Scrum delivery , DevOps for RPA, and automation pipeline management tools.
Deep understanding of business process optimization, workflow design, and automation use case identification.
Excellent stakeholder management skills, able to translate business needs into automation opportunities.
Experience in regulated industries such as healthcare, fintech, banking, insurance, or financial services , where automation must align with compliance, privacy, and security requirements.
Preferred Skills
UiPath Advanced Developer Certification or Solution Architect certification.
Exposure to AI/ML or cognitive services to complement RPA.
Understanding of API integration as it relates to process automation and background integrating automation with enterprise data platforms (e.g., Snowflake.
Experience consolidating multiple automation tools into a single enterprise platform strategy.
