In this key position, you will lead the design, implementation, and modernization efforts utilizing the Databricks platform. Collaborate closely with business stakeholders, engineers, and partner teams to create scalable, secure, and high-performance data solutions. This influential position requires a blend of visionary thinking and technical expertise, enabling you to translate high-level strategies into actionable designs and guide the cloud delivery team through successful implementations.
Key Responsibilities:
Architect and design innovative Databricks solutions for data processing, analytics, machine learning, and business intelligence.
Lead intricate data modernization projects, conducting assessments, creating roadmaps, and managing migrations from legacy systems to cloud platforms.
Define comprehensive architectures for ETL/ELT pipelines, data lakes, lakehouses, and real-time streaming solutions leveraging Delta Lake and Databricks-native tools.
Partner with clients and internal teams to establish data architecture standards, security models (including Unity Catalog, row/column access), and governance practices.
Drive presales initiatives by developing solution strategies, compelling client proposals, and tailored demonstrations that highlight technical capabilities.
Implement CI/CD practices for Databricks notebooks/jobs applying DevOps methodologies and infrastructure-as-code (e.g., Terraform, GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps).
Create and share reference architectures, reusable frameworks, and accelerators to promote consistent platform usage across teams.
Mentor engineering teams on best practices for data engineering, lakehouse design, and performance optimization in Databricks.
Keep abreast of evolving Databricks capabilities and contribute to internal Centers of Excellence.
Design and implement data governance and secure sharing strategies using Unity Catalog and Delta Sharing for compliant collaboration across partners.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's or Master's in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or related field.
15+ years of experience in data architecture, including 5+ years specifically on the Databricks platform.
Strong proficiency in Apache Spark, Delta Lake, Databricks SQL, Unity Catalog, and MLFlow.
Experienced in data migration projects from platforms such as Teradata, Hadoop, and Oracle to Databricks.
Proficient with Python, SQL, PySpark, and automation tools including REST APIs.
Solid understanding of modern data architectures like data lakehouse and real-time analytics.
Experience in integrating Databricks with major cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure) and tools such as Snowflake, Informatica, and dbt.
Knowledge of security and compliance protocols on Databricks.
Familiarity with cost optimization and performance tuning in Databricks environments.
Preferred Qualifications:
Databricks or cloud certifications (e.g., Databricks Certified Data Engineer, AWS/GCP/Azure Architect).
Industry experience in marketing analytics, clean rooms, or real-time segmentation.
Proven track record of success in solutioning roles within client-facing teams.
