Sales Director - New Golf Putting Aid (Startup)
About Us
We are a dynamic and innovative golf technology startup revolutionizing the putting training experience. This breakthrough training device seamlessly improves alignment, ball setup, and path, all of which are fundamental to good putting. We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Sales Director to drive growth by establishing key relationships and securing initial sales channels.
Position Overview
The Sales Director will help launch and grow our product line. This role is responsible for the entire sales cycle, from generating leads and developing relationships with key accounts to conducting product demonstrations and closing sales. The ideal candidate is an entrepreneurial and passionate golfer with a proven track record of B2B sales success.
This is a contracted part time position (estimated 30 hours/week on average).
Key Responsibilities
- Identify and Target Corporate and Retail Accounts: Proactively research and build a pipeline of potential clients, including professional golf instructors, corporations, golf and country clubs (known as "green grass" accounts), pro shops, and specialty sporting goods retailers.
- Establish Key Partnerships: Develop and maintain strong, long-term relationships with decision-makers at target accounts through in-person visits, sales calls, networking, and attending industry events.
- Conduct Product Demonstrations: Effectively present and demonstrate the features and benefits of our putting aid, highlighting its unique value proposition to professionals and retailers.
- Drive Sales and Meet Quotas: Develop and execute strategic sales plans to meet and exceed ambitious monthly, quarterly, and annual sales goals.
- Provide Market Feedback: Collaborate with the product development and marketing teams by relaying valuable market insights, customer feedback, and competitive intelligence to help inform our business strategy.
- Manage the Full Sales Cycle: Handle all aspects of the sales process, including negotiating contracts, processing orders, coordinating with internal teams, and ensuring a seamless customer experience.
- Represent the Brand: Act as a brand ambassador at key industry trade shows, tournaments, and promotional events.
Required Qualifications
- Experience: Minimum of 2+ years of successful B2B sales experience, with a preference for candidates from the sports equipment, golf, or sports industries.
- Industry Knowledge: Deep understanding of the golf industry, including the game itself, equipment, and the landscape of clubs and retailers.
- Communication Skills: Exceptional communication, negotiation, and presentation skills with the ability to articulate complex concepts clearly.
- Self-Motivated: A highly driven, self-starter with a strong entrepreneurial spirit and the ability to work independently to achieve results.
- Travel: Willingness and ability to travel frequently within a defined territory.
- Passion for Golf: A passion for the game of golf is essential for effectively engaging with clients and representing the brand authentically.
- Technology: Proficiency with CRM software and sales tracking tools.
Preferred Qualifications
- Established network within the golf industry, including contacts at green grass accounts and key retailers.
- Experience in a startup or rapid-growth environment.
Compensation
- Base salary plus commission with target total compensation of $100,000 annually.
- Performance-based equity incentives.
