Position Overview: Waterville Valley Ice Arena is seeking a highly motivated and organized individual to serve as a Tournament Operations Director and Facility Staff Member . This dynamic, hands-on position combines key responsibilities in tournament planning and ice arena operations. The ideal candidate will bring strong organizational skills, a proactive mindset, and the ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment. Experience in rink operations or tournament/event management is a plus but not required.
This role is perfect for someone who enjoys working in a team atmosphere, has a passion for hockey and events, and is committed to delivering a high-quality experience to players, coaches, and families.
Key Responsibilities:
Tournament Operations (Hockey Academy Events):
Act as the on-site director for Hockey Academy Tournaments hosted at Waterville Valley Ice Arena.
Coordinate tournament logistics, check-ins, etc and communication with teams.
Serve as the primary liaison between the Hockey Academy, the Waterville Valley Business Association, and local hotel partners.
Provide outstanding customer service to visiting coaches, managers, players, and spectators.
Help ensure a professional and organized tournament atmosphere throughout the weekend.
Ice Arena & Facility Operations:
Perform routine ice maintenance tasks such as resurfacing, edging, and cleaning.
Assist with minor facility repairs and general upkeep of the arena.
Monitor rink and facility equipment for proper operation and address any safety or functionality issues.
Maintain a clean, safe, and well-organized environment for guests and participants.
Support other operational needs such as event setup, scoreboard operation, as needed.
Qualifications:
Prior experience in rink operations or tournament/event coordination preferred.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
Comfortable working evenings and weekends, particularly during tournament weekends.
Ability to lift moderate weight and operate maintenance equipment (training will be provided if needed).
Reliable, detail-oriented, and team-focused.
