Marana Health is seeking a Medical Director - Regional to join the Clinical Operations team at the Marana Main Health Center, located in the heart of Marana, Arizona.
The Medical Director - Regional embraces, promotes, and supports organizational goals for consistent excellence in patient care by providing effective and inspirational leadership and engaging the healthcare teams to continuously improve performance and quality of care. Marana Health is a Federally Qualified Community Health Center (FQHC), with 10 sites in the Greater Tucson area. Pay Ranges:
Regional Medical Director - Physician $231,000 - $325,000 based on experience The following qualifications are required: Doctorate degree in Medicine, Osteopathy from an accredited university 5 years' experience in healthcare leadership 5 years' experience in an outpatient setting Experience in a Patient Centered Medical Home recognized setting Licensed to practice medicine in Arizona Board Certified, respective to specialty board Ability to obtain and maintain credentialing with accepted healthcare plans Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (must be completed prior to start) First Aid certification (may be completed with MHC upon hire) Fingerprint Clearance Card through the Arizona Department of Public Safety (or ability to obtain upon hire) Current Arizona driver's license with clean driving record and proof of current vehicle insurance (39-month MVR will be run by MHC) The following qualifications are preferred: Experience with Federally Qualified Health Centers (FQHC) Experience with State Regional Behavioral Health Authority (RBHA) system, AHCCCS health plans, private insurance, educational procedures and laws, legal system, and community resources Experience in leading, directing, and planning the delivery of comprehensive services to underserved and vulnerable populations Advanced degrees and work experience will be taken into consideration Equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered if applicable and must be directly related to the functions and body of knowledge required to successfully perform the job.
This position has the following supervisory responsibility:
Supervises and monitors performance for an assigned group of clinicians. Supervisory duties include hiring and disciplinary actions, overseeing work assignments and quality, scheduling and timekeeping, performance evaluations, and training and development.

Knowledge of team-based care and provision of integrated services. Strong ability to read, analyze, and interpret complex documents and apply mathematical and statistical concepts to track clinical activities and quality interventions. Remains calm and professional in stressful situations. Ability to influence and inspire members of the clinical team. Ability to hold staff, including fellow clinicians, accountable for their performance and behavior. Exceptional time and project management skills with the ability to delegate and follow up on project level activities. Duties and Responsibilities: Embraces and promotes the mission and vision of the organization and a culture of empathy, compassion, and kindness for the patients served, and works to align clinical leaders and staff attitudes, behaviors, and initiatives. Maintains fluid, clear, effective, and constructive communication with the Chief Clinical Officer and other leaders on medical and non-medical issues that may influence patient outcomes. Routinely observes and provides in-person guidance to clinicians at MHC clinical sites. Collaborates with other departments to identify organizational needs and prioritize strategic goals. Engages site leadership team in creating initiatives to improve patient care delivery and efficiencies and achieve organizational goals. Collaborates with internal and external stakeholders to achieve goals related to value-based contracts and other quality programs such as Patient Centered Medical Home. Responds effectively to sensitive inquiries or complaints. Ensures a safe, supportive and inclusive environment for patients and clinical staff. Openly receives feedback and exhibits a positive attitude regarding improvements in job performance. Enthusiastically assists in maintaining fiscal stability of the organization by monitoring financials and collaborates with each clinical site to identify and address opportunities for improvement. Applies principles of logical or scientific thinking to a wide range of intellectual and practical problems. Participates in committees, projects, and meetings, and organizes and leads as assigned. Mentors and assists clinicians to develop leadership and communication skills, and to lead effective meetings at their sites. Acts as a liaison between clinicians and other leaders of the organization, including information technology, training, and other departments. Works in collaboration with the Clinical Recruiter in recruiting and interviewing new clinicians. Participates, leads, and encourages clinician involvement in committees and development of procedures and policies. Works closely with the other clinical department directors to promote a culture of integration and whole-person care throughout the organization. Performs patient care responsibilities in accordance with the highest standards of quality care and professionalism and exemplifies this to other clinicians. Ensures compliance with written clinical policies, protocols, and procedures concerning clinic operations, guidelines, staffing patterns and coverage, case management, risk management, and Quality Improvement through leadership of the site clinicians Works within a standardized system to provide feedback to direct reports. Provides feedback and addresses medical care concerns with clinicians. Maintains after-hours availability for staff consultation on adult patient care issues per policies and procedures. Maintains updated professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications, establishing personal networks and participating in professional societies. Effectively adapts to different situations regarding patient care and the work environment. Promotes education of medical and non-medical staff in relevant topics. Engages the healthcare team to achieve a level of excellence in the quality of care provided. Uses a coaching approach to improve the leadership skills of direct reports and provides regular performance appraisals. Ensures patient care delivery is evidence-based and secures opportunities for continuous learning for clinical staff. Reviews time off requests from direct reports (personal leave, continuing medical education, etc.) and ensures sufficient on-call and clinical coverage. Collaborates with the Director of Wellness to promote clinician well-being. Ensures clinical development by promoting, designing, and implementing evidence-based practice guidelines and protocols in partnership with Medical Directors. Collaborates with clinicians to guide and implement the healthcare plan. Analyzes and discusses quality measures with the healthcare team and pertinent stakeholders to ensure continuous quality improvement. Resolves practical problems from a variety of situations where only limited standardization exists. Interprets a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
