Summary/Objective The Quality Assurance Director is responsible for overseeing the Quality Assurance (QA) program, with a strong emphasis on supplier quality management, and managing field service operations to ensure exceptional customer support. Reporting to the Vice President of EHS & Quality, this role leads the QA team, field service engineers, and supplier quality engineers to maintain compliance with industry standards (e.g., ISO 9001), enhance supplier performance, and deliver high-quality service to customers in the field. The position drives continuous improvement in supplier processes, ensures robust quality systems, and supports field operations to meet customer expectations and organizational objectives.
Essential Functions Develop and implement a comprehensive Quality Assurance program focused on supplier quality, ensuring alignment with ISO 9001 standards and the company's Quality Management System (QMS). Oversee supplier quality management processes, including supplier audits, performance evaluations, and qualification assessments, to ensure consistent delivery of high-quality materials and components. Lead root cause analysis and corrective action processes (e.g., 5 Whys, Fishbone, 8D) for supplier-related non-conformances, collaborating with suppliers to implement preventive measures. Manage the field service engineering team to provide timely and effective customer support, including on-site troubleshooting, system commissioning, and post-installation service. Establish and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) for supplier quality, such as defect rates, on-time delivery, and non-conformance resolution times, using tools like Minitab or Power BI. Collaborate with procurement and engineering teams to develop supplier quality requirements, specifications, and improvement plans to reduce variability and enhance product reliability. Oversee the development and maintenance of quality documentation, including supplier quality agreements, inspection protocols, and field service reports, ensuring compliance with QMS requirements. Lead continuous improvement initiatives, leveraging Lean and Six Sigma methodologies, to streamline supplier quality processes and field service operations. Act as the primary point of contact for supplier and customer quality-related inquiries, ensuring timely and accurate responses to maintain strong relationships. Support the implementation of automated quality inspection technologies and data collection systems to improve efficiency in supplier and field operations. Ensure field service engineers are trained in quality standards and customer service protocols to deliver consistent, high-quality support at customer sites. Monitor real-time quality data from supplier and field operations using statistical process control (SPC) to detect variations and ensure process stability. Contribute to Stellar Energy's sustainability goals by promoting environmentally responsible supplier practices and efficient field service operations. Competencies Strong leadership and team management skills to oversee QA, supplier quality, and field service teams. Expertise in supplier quality management and quality assurance processes. Proficiency in problem-solving methodologies (e.g., 5 Whys, Fishbone, 8D). In-depth knowledge of ISO 9001 standards and Quality Management Systems (QMS). Proficiency in data analysis tools (e.g., Minitab, Power BI, Excel) and statistical process control (SPC). Excellent communication and relationship-building skills with suppliers and customers. Strong organizational and project management skills with a focus on detail and accuracy. Work Environment The work environment for this role varies from an office environment, industrial manufacturing facility and industrial client sites.

This is largely a sedentary role; however, some filing is required. This would require the ability to lift files, open filing cabinets and bend or stand as necessary. The employee must occasionally lift or move up to 25 pounds. The employee must also be able to climb a ladder.
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Travel Anticipated travel is approximately 25%, primarily for supplier audits, customer site visits, and field service oversight. Occasional international travel may be required.
Required Education and Experience Bachelor's degree in engineering, Quality Management, or a related field from an accredited university. Minimum of 5 years of experience in quality assurance, with at least 3 years in supplier quality management and field service operations. Demonstrated expertise in problem-solving methodologies such as 5 Whys, Fishbone, and 8D. Strong understanding of ISO 9001 standards and experience managing QMS processes. Proficiency in statistical analysis tools (e.g., Minitab, Power BI, or Excel) and Lean/Six Sigma methodologies. Experience leading cross-functional teams, including field service engineers and supplier quality personnel. Lean Six Sigma Black Belt certification or equivalent is preferred.
