Gateways Hospital and Mental Health Center, located in Los Angeles, is a non-profit organization providing comprehensive mental health services for Children, Adolescents, Transitional Aged Youth, and Adults in the Greater Los Angeles area. The organization includes a standalone fifty-five (55)-bed hospital and six outpatient facilities with beds ranging from fourteen (14) to one hundred and thirty-four (134). The organization employs approximately four hundred (400) staff members.
Summary of Position The Program Director oversees clinical, administrative, and fiscal aspects of the program.
Essential Duties
Provides oversight of the program’s administration, clinical operations, and finances.
Ensures program goals are met and standards are maintained.
Oversees clinical decision-making, focusing on assessing and mitigating risks.
Facilitates team meetings, clinical supervision, and staffing processes.
Maintains knowledge of documentation, record keeping, and billing to meet quality standards.
Guides treatment planning considering client needs.
Handles emergent clinical issues.
Leads treatment team meetings, fostering consensus and direction.
Collaborates with other program leaders and communicates pertinent issues.
Develops and evaluates policies and procedures, ensuring compliance with standards and legal requirements.
Prepares reports and provides court testimony as needed.
Acts as liaison with stakeholders including DSH, courts, law enforcement, and community partners.
Provides on-call coverage as required.
Stays informed on field trends and assists other programs as needed.
Works independently, responds to emergencies, and maintains professional skills.
Addresses conflicts professionally and performs additional tasks as assigned.
Qualifications Education & Certifications
Doctorate in Psychology.
Licensed Psychologist with the California Board of Psychology.
Preferred: Forensic emphasis from an accredited institution.
Experience
Experience working with individuals with serious mental disorders in forensic settings.
Leadership experience in clinical settings.
Supervision of unlicensed professionals.
Risk assessment and authority in treatment.
Experience with forensic populations and behavioral sciences.
Desired: Managing a forensic outpatient program, providing court testimony, working within the CONREP system, and evaluating risk with SPJ.
Requirements
Background clearance from DOJ, FBI, and CCL.
Valid California Driver’s license and acceptable driving record.
TB clearance.
Certifications in Fire and Safety, First Aid, CPR, and CPI (must be obtained within specified timeframes if not already certified).
Physical Requirements
Ability to perform essential functions, including lifting up to 25 pounds.
