The Program Director will be responsible for the strategic management and operational oversight of a residential program focused on supporting children and adolescents with emotional, behavioral, and mental health challenges. The Program Director will ensure the program operates effectively, meets regulatory standards, and provides a safe, supportive environment for residents. The Program Director works closely with the program team to support the implementation of individualized plans of its residents. This role combines leadership and administrative skills with a commitment to fostering a positive and therapeutic setting.
Education/Training/Experience:
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university plus one (1) year of full time experience in a children’s residential program OR
An associate’s degree or a minimum of forty-eight (48) credit hours from an accredited college and two (2) years of full-time experience in a children's residential care facility OR
A high school diploma or equivalent and three (3) years of full-time experience in a children's residential care facility
Skills:
Strong leadership and management abilities
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills in professional setting
Capacity to work collaboratively with a diverse team
Expertise in behavioral documentation
Expertise in Microsoft Office Suite, including but not limited to Word, Excel, Teams, Outlook
Experience with Best Notes or other software for case management and behavioral documentation, including med management
Knowledge:
Understanding of adolescent development, mental health disorders, and regulatory requirements for residential treatment programs.
Must have knowledge of group home/residential treatment for children and adolescents
Computer literacy
State and federal laws pertaining to the welfare of children
Must be 21 years of age
Driver’s license

Duties/Responsibilities:
Program Management:
Develop, implement, and oversee the residential program and interventions designed for its residents.
Ensure the program meets or exceeds licensing and accreditation standards.
Monitor and evaluate program effectiveness and make recommendations for improvements based on data and feedback.
Oversee documentation standards for quality assurance purposes
On-call duties as assigned
Leadership and Supervision:
Lead, mentor, and supervise a multidisciplinary team, supervisors, case managers, and direct care providers.
Foster a collaborative and supportive work environment.
Conduct regular staff training and professional development to ensure effective program delivery and adherence to best practices.
Administrative Duties:
Manage the program expense budget based of the approved budget
Oversee administrative functions such as scheduling, documentation, and compliance with regulatory requirements.
Prepare and present reports on program performance, critical incidents, grievances, efficiencies, and compliance
Complete annual evaluations for direct supervisees
Write and implement policies for compliance with program standards outlined by licensing and accreditation bodies.
Family and Community Engagement:
Develop and maintain strong relationships with guardians and community resources.
Facilitate family involvement and communication to support the adolescent’s progress and well-being.
Quality Improvement:
Implement and monitor quality improvement initiatives to enhance program effectiveness and resident outcomes.
Conduct regular assessments and audits to ensure compliance with safety and quality standards.
Physical and Mental Ability Requirements
Must be able to sit, stand, walk, bend, reach, and lift up to 100lbs as necessary for the position.
Requires the ability to use standard office equipment, including computers, telephones, printers, and copiers.
Must have visual and auditory acuity to perform essential job functions, including reading printed materials and communicating effectively in person and over the phone.
Ability to work under pressure, manage multiple tasks simultaneously, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Requires strong cognitive skills, including attention to detail, critical thinking, problem-solving, and sound judgment.
Must be able to maintain emotional resilience, composure, and professionalism when managing sensitive or high-stress situations.
Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively in a team setting.
