Summary The YMCA Program Director - Sports, under the supervision of the Regional Sports Director, is responsible for assisting in the development and administration of the Sports Program for the YMCA of Central Kentucky. This position will require exceptional customer service skills, thorough understanding of all registration and program management platforms, flexibility in scheduling and comprehensive knowledge of the YMCA's programs and services. This position requires availability mornings, afternoons, early evenings, and weekends, working 40 hours per week. The Program Director will work across all Central Kentucky branches, and all off-site sports locations. Job duties will minimally include sports program creation, management, and execution, sports site coverage, game day event oversight and community engagement. The Program Director will be in direct service in multiple sports across all calendar seasons, including practices and games at all locations.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Provides superior customer service to all members and program participants. Recruits, trains and supervises staff and volunteers needed to run successful, quality YMCA programs Maintain safe and clean program facilities. Take lead role in the supervision of various sports programs, staff, referees, and volunteers. Contacting/responding to volunteers/program participants via e-mail, phone. Assist in the recruiting of program participants through communication and marketing efforts Assist in the evaluation of program effectiveness Perform random quality checks of programs and events as needed Effectively communicate and market new and current programs to members and prospective members in a courteous and professional manner Develop sports program culture providing a warm welcome, sincere interest in each individual and strong follow-through to ensure a quality experience for all. Ensure all staff/volunteers complete required trainings by deadline as required by YMCA Responsible for upkeep and management of staff time and attendance in all systems. Maintain ongoing communication with all YMCA operational and support staff
Qualifications This position requires strong organizational, communication, interpersonal relation skills and an ability to work independently at times without direct supervision. Knowledge of sports programs, rules, and regulations are a must. A desire to help and work with youth and adults is necessary. Exercising a consistent recreational mindset understanding we are making healthy strong first impressions on young athletes, having confidence in sports management practices, mastering event planning and execution, and developing new sports programs are vital qualifications. Must be CPR certified within 30 days. Must maintain required child abuse prevention training.
Education/Experience
College Education preferred Minimum of 2 years' experience working with youth, teens and/or families Preferred experience in YMCA programs such as youth development, sports or membership.

Office and Computer Skills Must be able to operate standard office and computer equipment Microsoft Word and Excel Must be able to operate standard software programs and have the ability to learn and effectively navigate technology solutions such as PlayerSpace, Daxko and other programs as required.
