Job Summary:

The Housing Support Services (HSS) Program Director provides day-to-day oversight and supervision of the Housing Support Services, including high quality case management services for families and single adults in recovery. This includes maintaining a small caseload of participants for whom the Program Director provides direct case management services. The Program Director is responsible for ensuring trauma-informed client-center programming, staff supervision and service delivery in accordance with funding requirements. The Program Director is also responsible for maintaining an environment among staff and participants that supports recovery and responding to crises outside of regularly scheduled work hours. Responsibilities also include ensuring that data systems remain updated, creating and submitting required reports, monitoring training and safety compliance, and serving as the department representative on agency committees, as needed.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Hires, trains and supervises case workers and case managers.
  • Creates an overall environment of recovery by staying current with the recovery field, playing an active role in the recovery community and promoting the values of recovery, safety, cooperation, communication and inclusiveness in al program activities.
  • Acts as principal referral contact for prospective clients, including overseeing referral requests, arranging for evaluative interviews and admission intakes, establishing and maintaining relations with referral sources.
  • Delivers services to clients in the program in the event that staff is unavailable.
  • Maintains client records and creates required reports.
  • Acts as administrator for the ESM, agency EMR and HMIS data systems.
  • Represents agency at community meetings, as appropriate.
  • Attend applicable meetings with network providers, the Network to End Homelessness, Hampden County CoC and others as necessary.
  • Adheres to program and agency policies and procedures.
  • Leads annual program planning and review.
  • Maintains positive relations with funding sources.
  • Participate in collaborating projects with other agencies/CoC as applicable.
  • Responsible for compiling monthly safety reports and submitting to department director
  • Responsible for monitoring department staff compliance with training schedule.
  • Responsible for the timely submission of program reports and data, as well as all agency paperwork in accordance with agency policies.
  • Perform other tasks as determined by the Prevention Department Director and/or other Department/Agency administrators.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in social work, human services, substance abuse services, counseling or related field required, master’s degree preferred.
  • Lived experience a plus.
  • Recovery support experience a plus.
  • Knowledge of community resources/agencies.
  • Ability to be innovative, creative, analytical, and decisive in problem solving.
  • Client advocacy skills and ability to establish working relationships with community agencies.
  • Ability to structure and organize job responsibilities independently.
  • Ability to deal with diverse populations.
  • Good typing/computer skills.
  • Must have valid driver’s license
  • Minimum of two years of supervisory experience.
  • Works as a collaborative team leader.
  • Attends agency and department required meetings and trainings.
  • Balance competing demands and satisfy the conflicting needs of a multi-stakeholder-based constituency with tact and diplomacy.
  • Offer ideas and solutions that are creative and cost-effective.
  • Identify trends, assess risk, define problems, collect data, establish facts and make recommendations which support the strategic direction of the organization.
