PROGRAM/DEPARTMENT DESCRIPTION:
Healthy Baby, Healthy Child (HBHC) is a home visiting program within the Division of Healthy Start Systems (HSS) in the Child, Adolescent and Family Health Bureau at the Boston Public Health Commission. HBHC works to advance maternal and infant health equity by providing culturally appropriate, timely services to Boston's most vulnerable families where they live. The program incorporates a multidisciplinary approach that utilizes community health workers (public health advocates), public health nurses, and social workers to support the needs of families that are pregnant or parenting children under the age of five. HBHC has advanced maternal and infant health equity for Boston families for over thirty years.
HBHC is seeking a director to lead the program into its next decade of impact. This new role will work to enhance the program's reach and depth with the goal of ensuring that all vulnerable families are connected to high quality, culturally competent, and accessible services. The successful candidate will play a central role in developing, implementing, evaluating, and ensuring the quality of the HBHC program. They will directly supervise six leadership staff, provide over oversight over three supportive programs (Healthy Start in Housing, Welcome Family, and Father Friendly) and manage a team of over twenty public health professionals including community health workers, nurses, social workers, and administrative support staff. Reporting to and partnering with the HSS Division Director, the HBHC Program Director will be responsible for ensuring that the program achieves all programmatic goals.
DUTIES:
· Leads overall HBHC operations, consisting of over 20 staff across five disciplines: community health work, nursing, management, administration, and social work.
· Provides oversight to and facilitates coordination of HBHC management team including supervision of head nurses, social workers, program managers and administrative assistants.
· Responsible for coordinating, managing, providing oversight and quality assurance for all clinical and administrative duties.
· Oversees development of policies and protocols in collaboration with the Healthy Start Systems Division Director.
· Manages overall budgeting and reporting, including for city, state, and federal funding sources.
· Implements productivity standards and develops strategies to meet program goals.
· Coordinates continuing education programming in partnership with Medical Director and Behavioral Health Director.
· Coordinates provider outreach activities as appropriate to increase HBHC referrals and utilization.
· Works to market HBHC program to internal and external stakeholders.
· Maintains relationships with funding agencies and seeks new funding sources.
· Work closely, collaboratively and in a confidential capacity with the HSS Division Director.
· Work to help BPHC become an antiracist organization by meeting or exceeding the standards set by the BPHC Anti-Racism Policy.
