  • Use virtual modalities (video/telephone) and population health tools to close care gaps and support proactive Veteran outreach.
  • Ensure accurate, timely documentation, order entry, and coding in the VA EHR (e.g., CPRS/Cerner) and ancillary systems.
  • Own the clinic’s Quality Management plan: define aims, select measures, review dashboards, and run PDSA cycles for access, quality, and safety.
  • Ensure adherence to infection prevention, medication management, test tracking/diagnostic follow-up, and safe handoff practices.
  • Lead morbidity & mortality reviews and root cause analyses as indicated; ensure timely reporting and closure of safety events.
  • Maintain survey readiness (e.g., Joint Commission), VA Environment of Care standards, and compliance with HIPAA/Privacy and OSHA requirements.
  • Recruit, onboard, schedule, and evaluate providers (MD/DO, NP/PA); support precepting and mentoring.
  • Conduct regular provider meetings and interdisciplinary case reviews; foster a just culture and high-reliability mindset.
  • Provide coaching and performance improvement plans when needed; promote CME, board maintenance, and professional growth.
  • Set and monitor access targets (third-next-available appointment, same-day access, consult turnaround); implement recovery plans.
  • Optimize clinic templates, room utilization, and team workflows to reduce cycle time and improve continuity.
  • Champion Veteran experience, whole health, trauma-informed care, and service recovery; analyze SHEP/CX feedback and execute action plans.
  • Collaborate on budgeting, staffing models, and supply stewardship; ensure diagnostic and emergency equipment readiness.
  • Coordinate with community care partners and VA specialists to ensure timely consults, transitions of care, and closed-loop communication.
