Position Summary This role is designed for a highly motivated pathologist who can bridge the gap between traditional pathology and cutting-edge computational approaches to advance tissue-based biomarker discovery and diagnostic development at GSK. You will provide medical and scientific expertise to advance our understanding of disease mechanisms and support the development of innovative therapies. Collaborating across multidisciplinary teams, you will drive the integration of pathology insights and tissue technology into drug development. Responsibilities - Provide medical leadership in translational and computational pathology to support drug development programs. - Collaborate with research, clinical, and regulatory teams to integrate pathology insights into study designs and decision-making. - Develop and implement strategies for biomarker discovery and validation in clinical development using pathology data, including patient selection, stratification, or pathology-based histologic endpoints. - Ensure high scientific standards and compliance with medical governance policies and regulations. - Build strong relationships with external experts, academic institutions, and industry partners to advance scientific innovation, particularly for companion diagnostics. - Mentor and train team members on pathology-related topics to enhance organizational expertise. Qualifications/Skills Basic Qualifications: - Medical degree (MD, DO, or equivalent). - Board certification in anatomic pathology or equivalent qualification. - Minimum 3 years' experience post-residency in research, clinical, or industry setting (may include fellowship or post-doc). Preferred Qualifications: - Excellent interpersonal skills, including the ability to cultivate transparent and respectful partnerships with internal and external stakeholders to drive positive outcomes. - Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects, collaborate effectively, and communicate clearly in a global matrix environment. - Strong diagnostic pathology skills with a deep understanding of molecular and cellular biology, including hypothesis generation. - Advanced training or experience in digital pathology, computational pathology, spatial biology or related fields and/or scholarly research experience (publications, advanced degrees). - Experience in pharmaceutical or biotech industry, particularly in tissue-based biomarker assay development and its application in drug development including immunohistochemistry (IHC), multiplex immunofluorescence (mIF), in situ hybridization (ISH), spatial 'omics (high-plex proteomics and/or transcriptomics), or genomic signatures in tissue samples. - Subspecialty surgical pathology expertise (including head and neck pathology, pulmonary pathology, renal pathology, gastrointestinal and/or liver pathology, gynecologic pathology, soft tissue pathology, genitourinary pathology, hematopathology, or dermatopathology). - Familiarity with regulatory requirements for biomarker validation and clinical trials.
