A person who has a heart for children's ministry and is able to work full-time (40 or more hours per week). The Personnel Director will:
• Report to the State Director
• Collaborate with the senior management team to engage in strategic planning for the organization's growth.
• Create job descriptions, post positions, screen applicants, facilitate interviews, conduct employment verifications and reference checks to hire staff
• Handle personnel paperwork, including leave requests, CEF USA forms, time sheets, etc., for the state office and its chapters
• Assist with the hiring for various chapter staff positions, including consultations with chapter staff and committees
• Administer personality profile tests to job applicants
• Attend college & other job fairs
• Help promote student internships and externships, work with the chapters and state office on appropriate job duties for such students, and monitor their progress
• Review Local Coordinator R-11a monthly reports, noting progress, difficulties and problems, and report to State Director matters needing attention
• Prepare for staff performance reviews
• Assist State Director with staff development plans
• Inform qualified staff when they are eligible for the retirement program and assist those who wish to enroll
• State Board & committee member recruitment
o Work with local chapters to identify those within their community with suitable personnel, financial and ministry experience to recommend as Committee candidates
o Work with the local chapters to present candidate information to the Personnel Committee for review and approval of new committee members
o Work with the State Board to identify those within the state with suitable personnel, financial, ministry, public relations & fund-raising, and strategic planning experience to recommend as State Board candidates
o Keep track of board and committee terms of service and alert the board and committee when a member’s term will expire or may be renewed
• Handle state and federal personnel regulatory matters, including the EEOC, worker’s compensation claims, and the Department of Labor and the Virginia Employment Commission matters
• Conduct investigations of complaints and other personnel matters
• Prepare personnel actions for consideration of the State Board’s Personnel Committee and full board
• Keep up-to-date with changes in the law and apprise the State Director regarding the need for any policy recommendations as a result of them
• Provide basic training to chapters’ leaders regarding structured interviews, documenting personnel matters, and other appropriate hiring, on-boarding, evaluating, staff care and firing protocols.
• As with all staff, work with the State Director to raise funds as a deputized fund-raiser
• Handle other duties as assigned
