Nursing Simulation Director, Open Rank Faculty Position

The Teresa B. Caine School of Nursing at High Point University seeks a full-time faculty member to serve as our Simulation Director. The ideal candidate will have evidence-based teaching skills and clinical expertise to support student success across the pre-licensure BSN curriculum. This position requires flexibility for evening and weekend instruction, direct clinical supervision as needed, and participation in service activities.
The Simulation Director is responsible for leading and managing all aspects of the simulation program within the School of Nursing. This role involves developing, implementing, and evaluating simulation experiences that enhance learning outcomes and simultaneously prepare students for success in nursing practice. Expertise in nursing education, simulation technology, and program management is required. Leading or co-facilitating students’ learning in adult health (medical-surgical) nursing courses and foundational support courses under the nursing dean's guidance are also requirements.
Knowledge of adult pedagogical principles, and a commitment to excellence in nursing education and student success are essential. Qualifications
Minimum- Master’s degree in nursing education or equivalent from an accredited institution
Preferred - Doctorate degree in nursing or equivalent from an accredited institution
Three or more years of clinical expertise as an RN in adult health (medical-surgical)
Three or more years of nursing education experience (classroom and clinical) in a BSN educational program (at minimum)
Previous experience as a simulation educator, using standardized patients and patient simulators
Certification in Healthcare Simulation (CHSE) or other formal simulation training
• Unrestricted license as a Registered Nurse in North Carolina (or eligible)
Faculty Responsibilities
Clinical practicum supervision, clinical skills laboratory instruction, simulation-based learning facilitation, classroom teaching using evidence-based methodology
Development of course assessments aligned with Next Generation NCLEX-RN standards
Participation in university and departmental service activities, student recruitment, academic advising, scholarship or creative works, and mentorship of current and prospective students
Maintain classrooms, nursing clinical skills lab, simulation suites (including inventory), etc.
Design evidence-based simulation scenarios that align with learning objectives and competency requirements
Mentor nursing faculty to integrate simulation pedagogy, debriefing techniques, and the delivery of “best practice” and “evidence-based practice” into respective courses
Oversee the selection, procurement, and maintenance of simulation equipment and technology
Manage relationships with equipment vendors and technical support services
Maintain detailed records of simulation activities, outcomes, and assessments
Lead strategic planning initiatives for continuous improvement of simulation-based learning experiences, program enhancement, and expansion
Maintain simulation program scheduling, resource allocation, policies, procedures, and standards in alignment with regulatory and accreditation requirements
Additional duties as assigned
Essential Knowledge
Familiarity with North Carolina Board of Nursing’s regulations and standards
Familiarity with accreditation standards (CCNE preferred), adult education principles, and standards for professional nursing practice (BSN education level)
Familiarity with NCLEX-RN Test Plan and Next Generation NCLEX
Knowledge of simulation center design and operations with a commitment to continuous quality improvement
Essential Skills
A record of scholarship to meet the desired academic rank (i.e., instructor, assistant professor, or associate professor)
Technology skills with proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, database management, and high-fidelity simulation equipment and software
CPR certified
Exceptional organizational, interpersonal, collaborative, team building, and effective communication skills orally, in writing, and through technology
Student-centered
Commitment to multiculturalism in all settings
Experience with learning management systems and educational technology
Expertise in simulation pedagogy and adult learning principles

Lift and move simulation equipment up to fifty pounds with prolonged standing and walking
