Responsibilities: The Activities Director must develop and maintain a high-quality activities program that will satisfy the interest and needs of the residents.  The Director must ensure and conduct a prompt comprehensive assessment of each resident admitted and develop an individualized plan of care that includes specific activities tailored to the resident's preferences and needs. Activities are to be offered on a 7-day per week basis where events are conducted in the evenings as well as during the day, utilizing the full scope of the facility's capabilities. Activities must be designed to meet the individual needs of each resident, regardless of their physical or mental capacity. Activities are to promote quality of life for the facility's inhabitants.
Qualification Standards- Knowledge, Skill and Ability: Ability to actively conduct the planning, developing, organizing, and implementing of the activity program. A qualified professional who is a qualified therapeutic recreation specialist or an activities professional who is licensed or registered, if applicable, by the state of Maryland. Qualified occupational therapists or occupation therapy assistants who are licensed or registered in the state are welcome and encouraged to apply. Ability is required in English grammar in both reading and writing. Requires frequent bending, stooping, stretching and lifting.
Certification/ Licenses: Activity Professional Certification from a state-approved program heavily preferred.

Actively promotes and communicates facility's activity program to residents and families and motivate and encourage them to participate.
Promotes activities, entertainment and religious services prior to presentation dates. Develops and disseminates weekly and monthly activities calendars; creates posters and announcements of upcoming events to promote and communicate the events.
Continually motivates and encourages residents to attend and participate in the activities and programs and assists them in getting to the activity area and returned to their rooms at the end of the activity.
