As an open-access institution, Green River is deeply dedicated to helping students from underserved and underrepresented backgrounds to achieve their educational goals. We seek candidates with the same dedication to our mission. This is a full-time position and reports to the Associate Dean of Nursing. This position is eligible to receive the HB2158 26.5% funding.The Associate Dean of Nursing will maintain legal authority over all nursing programs, with this role providing support. The Associate Dean of Nursing will remain the nurse administrator that is the first point of contact, the authority who speaks for the nursing school, and through which all substantive communications with the Board of Nursing flow. Maintaining a single line of institutional authority, professional responsibility, and communication between our National Accreditors and the Washington State Board of Nursing.ABOUT THE COLLEGE:Green River College's student body is made up of approximately 41% Academic Transfer students, 34% Professional-Technical students, 15% Adult Basic Education student, and 3% Applied Bachelor degrees. Green River College has four campuses, including the main campus in Auburn, Washington, with satellite campuses in Kent, downtown Auburn, and Enumclaw. Green River programs serve high school graduates, Running Start students (dual enrollment in local high schools and the college), those seeking retraining for the workforce, international students, students learning English, and Continuing Education students. Graduates of the Green River College Nursing Program will be qualified candidates for the successful completion of the NCLEX and prepared for advancement in continuing healthcare education. We seek faculty experienced in developing innovative course content and delivering instructional practices, as well as those experienced in delivering supportive services for diverse populations and in communicating issues and concerns faced by racially minoritized students. Position Responsibilities Leadership and Supervision:Provide oversight of associate and certificate level programs academic scheduling. Provide support of the bachelors level programs in partnership with the Associate Dean of Nursing.May provide oversight of the adjunct faculty.Provide oversight of the classified staff.Provide oversight of Nursing Assistant Certified State Testing facilitated through Green River College.In collaboration with program staff and faculty, provide oversight of associate degree student recruitment, admissions, academic performance, disciplinary issues, and initiates corrective action.Work collaboratively with the Associate Dean of Nursing and the Clinical Affiliations Coordinator to support clinical course placement, assignments and scheduling in compliance with agency contracts.In collaboration with administrators, faculty and staff assures compliance with external regulatory bodies, policies and laws, specifically the Washington State Board of Nursing.Initiates the generation of data and provides that data for inferential decision making.Collects, monitors and apprises the Associate Dean of Nursing on a quarterly bases regarding adherence to high quality student outcomes.In collaboration with program staff and faculty, seeks funding sources to support program growth.Directs maintenance and updates of databases, records management, and program websites to ensure accurate administrative records and operational functions.Oversees the development and revision of nursing program handbooks in alignment with state and college policies and practices.In collaboration with the Associate Dean of nursing, staff and faculty prepare reports as needed for external bodies: eg, CNEA, WABON, College, etc.In collaboration with the Associate Dean of nursing, staff and faculty expand community partnerships to facilitate robust advisory board participation, student employment opportunities and clinical placements.Supervise assigned Nursing Department employees.Participate in recruitment, interviews, hiring recommendations, and training of new instructors, clinical instructor substitutes, and lab assistants in instructional methods and classroom expectations.Coordinate meetings and communicate matters to the Nursing department faculty and staff.Establish and monitor process for examining current equipment and supplies.In collaboration with the Associate Dean of Nursing, develop, forecast, monitor, report and reconcile department, local, grant budgets, and gifts, including departmental supply and equipment orders and providing input on forecasted expenses for the upcoming term and year in the budget planning process; assists in establishing annual financial goals.Educational ExcellenceCollaborates with Associate Dean of Nursing to fulfil college and program mission, vision and values.Collaborates with administrators, faculty and staff in daily oversight of the nursing programs with regards to curriculum planning, integration and evaluation.Participate and facilitate the development of the department systematic evaluation plans.Mentors and counsels faculty in the development and enhancement of teaching skills.Assures quality of instruction and development of faculty as educators in conjunction with the Associate Dean of nursing. Facilitate staff and faculty efforts in establishing program goals and objectives in planning and implementing the activities to achieve them.In collaboration with the Associate Dean and Nursing, staff and faculty, support monitoring and maintenance of current and accurate course information and academic records, including syllabi, objectives, faculty and student records and reports for accreditation. Candidates with a master's degree in nursing from an accredited program must be enrolled in a doctoral program and on track to graduate by fall 2028.
