Oversee the medical program at Sunrise Community Mental Health (SCMH) to ensure the highest quality of client care based on evidence-based practice. Prescribe treatment or medications to treat SCMH clients. Advises and works collaboratively with management and medical staff to evaluate, develop, and implement policies and procedures for "best practice" medical operations and economically efficient use of personnel in the delivery of medical care related to SCMH.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities and Essential Job Functions:
80% of the Medical Director's time will be spent prescribing treatment or medications to SCMH clients.
Collaborate with medical staff (ARNPs), clinical staff (MHPs, Clinical Director, Case Managers, etc) or other appropriate professionals to discuss treatment plans and progress.
Collaboratively work with medical staff and management to evaluate, develop and implement policies and procedures for medical services provided to SCMH clients.
Support and assist management and prescribing staff with the transition to implementation of the health care reform act as directed by the federal government. This would include, in part, EMR implementation.
Participate in morbidity and mortality style meetings with clinical staff on a regular basis (ie. Every other week). These meetings will encompass case consults / discussion and educational presentations. CMO will be available when client crisis arises.
Advises and works collaboratively with management and medical staff to evaluate, develop and implement policies and procedures for "best practice medical operations. Will seek consultation with the RSN Medical Director should differing opinions on "best practice" arise. Provide educational presentations throughout Sunrise as needed.
Advises and works collaboratively with management and medical staff to ensure economical and efficient use of personnel in the delivery of medical care.
Oversee medical records to ensure compliance with both WAC and medical industry standards.
Facilitate regular medical staff consultation group meetings (every other week).
In collaboration with Clinical Director CMO will develop performance standards for medical staff with periodic reviews given by the Clinical Director to maintain standardization of services.
Train and orient medical staff and where applicable, clinical staff to policies, procedures and "best practices."
At the direction of the Executive Director, will network with community medical providers, primary care physicians, hospital management, hospital social workers and other community resources to advocate for SCMH.
Demonstrate a high quality of dedication to documentation requirements by consistently meeting documentation timeline expectations. Oversee other medical staff adherence to documentation requirements and timely submission for data entry billing.
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Present a knowledge of appropriate service modalities, management styles and community relations, as these relate to community mental health. Must have the ability to work well with professionals from a variety of public and private funding sources
Have substantial knowledge of mental health standards of care, experience with diverse populations, and effective supervision methods.
Have the ability to expand service delivery to various locations within and outside of Snohomish County This may be through the development of agency telepsychiatry or other technological innovations in the industry. Be a source of knowledge for the department with IT recommendations for future growth.
Education and Experience: Possess a Board Certification in Psychiatry.
Have five (5) years of experience in direct service and management roles.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations Active license to practice medicine in the State of Washington (MD or ARNP)
Active DEA license
Have professional services compensated by Medicare/Medicaid
Have professional services compensated DSHS background
Compensation:
$125- $150/hour (this is a salary position)
Wages depend on applicable licensure, experience, and education.
Schedule:
Part-time; 5-20 hours/week. Monday - Friday day hours (flexible)

Paid vacation - Earned at .04 per hour worked for hourly employees, and 6.67 per month for salary (equates to about 2 weeks per year for full-time employees)
Sick Leave - 1 hour per 40 hours worked (equates to about 52 hours for full-time)
Holiday pay, with 8 holidays observed
