Reporting directly to the Global Head of Worldwide Medical, the position will provide leadership in the new business area of Sepsis Management, particularly within the USA, and will ensure high quality medical and clinical support for the USA Acute business unit. The Medical Director will be accountable for scientific engagement with USA thought leaders and relevant professional organizations, evidence generation and publication/communication strategies, and collaboration with cross-functional partners to align medical affairs with business strategy. The Medical Director will be a member of the Worldwide Medical Extended Leadership team and the USA business leadership team. Location: Deerfield, IL (travel approximately 35-40% annually). Key Responsibilities Provide scientific knowledge and expertise to support the development of innovation in therapies and products in Sepsis Management. Create a Medical Affairs strategy for Sepsis Management aligned with USA business unit strategy and ensure effective execution. Develop medical and scientific relationships with USA KOLs/SMEs and support advisory boards to gain insight and strategic direction. Collaborate with healthcare professional organizations and support evidence-based guideline generation. Provide medical leadership in therapy and product education by creating educational and training materials for internal and external use. Develop and execute evidence generation and publication strategies including HEOR; work with cross-functional colleagues to support reimbursement strategies. Provide medical expertise to assure safety of relevant products and collaborate with Worldwide Medical teams on clinical trial design to support launches. Advise R&D, clinical research, regulatory, manufacturing, legal, and other functions; shape an innovative and market-focused scientific culture. Manage the US Sepsis Management Medical Affairs budget. Ensure medical voice of the customer and medical content for regulatory submissions and product launches/maintenance. Experience / Knowledge Proven knowledge and expertise in sepsis management. Greater than 5 years of leadership experience within healthcare organizations in Pharma/medical device industry. Excellent written and verbal communication and presentation skills. Ability to manage multiple priorities and work with cross-functional teams and external partners; interact with regulatory bodies and professional organizations. Qualifications and Clinical Experience Formal USA medical degree. Formal fellowship training in a specialty relevant to Sepsis Management (e.g., Critical Care). Evidence of thought leadership related to Sepsis Management with involvement in professional organizations. Track record of academic research with peer-reviewed publications.
