POSITION OVERVIEW The Site Medical Director will act as the responsible Physician and health authority, ensuring the delivery of high-quality clinical services while maintaining a collaborative approach with other healthcare providers. This role primarily focuses on clinical supervision without managerial duties. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Graduation from an accredited medical school. Valid medical license to practice in the state of employment. Current DEA Registration. Preferred board certification or eligibility in a primary care specialty (Family Medicine, Internal Medicine) and experience in corrections or managed healthcare. Fluency in English, encompassing reading, writing, speaking, and comprehension. Strong team player, capable of contributing to a collaborative work environment. Ability to make independent decisions when necessary. Excellent interpersonal skills for interacting with staff, patients, and the community. Leadership qualities and the ability to supervise effectively. Must not pose a direct threat to the health or safety of others in the workplace. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Consult with community medical providers to enhance service delivery. Supervise clinical services provided by healthcare staff. Provide on-call services as needed. Review and approve clinical protocols, policies, and procedures annually. Manage and evaluate referrals to external healthcare facilities. Sponsor Physician Assistants and Nurse Practitioners in accordance with state laws. Act as a resource for all medical staff. Participate in the recruitment and credentialing of healthcare providers. Contribute to in-service training initiatives. Represent the healthcare program at community meetings as required. Attend necessary meetings related to medical and clinical operations. Complete patient care as required and document encounters effectively. Ensure all entries in the medical record are complete and compliant with protocols. Follow established therapeutic regimens while adhering to formulary requirements. Act on urgent and emergency situations effectively. Maintain competence in emergency procedures, including CPR and AED use. Adhere to evidence-based medical care standards.
