We are seeking a Medical Director who will collaborate with cross-functional teams and senior leaders to position Optum at the forefront of post-acute care management. Key Responsibilities:
Oversee daily utilization and engage with network physicians and hospitals.
Conduct daily utilization management reviews, including authorizations and denials.
Facilitate peer-to-peer clinical case reviews as necessary.
Provide telephonic reviews and share relevant information with providers to promote cost-effective healthcare delivery and quality of care.
Effectively communicate with providers to support the successful implementation of Optum's services.
Be the key medical contact for various healthcare providers, responding to clinical inquiries.
Collaborate with team members to ensure comprehensive care coordination for our members.
Develop strategic initiatives to improve care delivery and monitor progress towards goals.
Lead efforts to enhance cost management in partnership with network and provider contracting.
Regularly meet with Optum leadership to address care coordination issues and share insights on network management.
Provide input on analytics and care management to refine Optum’s products and services.
Assist with local case management inquiries, directing them to the appropriate subject matter experts when needed.
Perform additional duties as assigned or required.

Required Qualifications:
Graduate of an accredited medical school.
Current, unrestricted medical license and residency in the U.S.
Board certification in an ABMS specialty.
Minimum of 3 years' experience in an acute inpatient setting with managed care organizations.
Strong understanding of the evolving U.S. payer and provider landscape.
Experience in population-based medicine, especially with Medicare, Medicaid, and commercial populations.
Proficient computer skills.
A dedicated workspace that ensures privacy, free from distractions.
Capability to connect to a high-speed Internet service.
Preferred Qualifications:
Board Certification in Internal Medicine, Emergency Medicine, Physiatry, or Family Medicine.
Ability to multitask effectively with minimal supervision.
Motivated, adaptable, and capable of thriving in a fast-paced environment.
Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work collaboratively across teams.
Proficient in developing and maintaining positive relationships with customers and providers.
Strong organizational, verbal, and written communication skills.
Exceptional analytic abilities.
This role offers a competitive compensation package ranging from $238,000 - $357,500, which includes base pay and bonuses reflective of your experience and contributions. We also provide a comprehensive benefits package, including equity stock options, a 401k plan, and more—subject to eligibility requirements.
