It is a school-based linked site. The Ruth Ellis School-Based site offers primary and behavioral healthcare to the pediatric population 3-21 years old including offering services for the LGBTQ youth community. Our school-based and community health centers (also called child and adolescent health centers) are a mini-doctor's office located inside elementary, middle, and high schools across metro-Detroit. Each center is unique based on student population, grant requirements and school needs. The health centers are staffed by a variety of providers including nurse practitioners, registered nurses, medical assistants, clinical therapists and a child and adolescent psychiatrist. We are seeking a medical assistant with strong clinical skills who is able to work independently and autonomously. Front desk experience is a bonus, along with the ability to manage responsibilities with minimal supervision. Experience working in Pediatrics, Family Medicine and the Emergency Room is preferred. General Summary Under direct supervision of the provider and nursing leadership, the medical assistant performs a variety of administrative and clinical tasks to assist in the quality and compassionate care provided to patients. These duties may include but are not limited to the Greeting and escorting of patients to the exam room. Obtaining medical histories. The measurement and recording of vital signs. Preparing patients for an examination/procedure. Assisting the provider during the examination/procedure. Education/Experience Required High school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent. Basic computer knowledge and keyboarding skills preferred. Ability to perform a wide variety of clinical skills as related to ambulatory patient care preferred. Ability to problem-solve preferred. Possess effective interpersonal and communication skills preferred. EPIC (Electronic Medical Record) experience preferred. Professionally recognized medical assistant certification from the American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA/CMA), American Medical Technologists (RMA), National Health Career Associations Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA), and National Center for Competency Testing National Certified Medical Assistant (NCMA) preferred. Additional Requirements Graduate of a medical assistant program with completion of a formal clinical externship (160 hour minimum). OR Graduate from a medical assistant program without completion of a clinical externship but with a minimum one-year experience in clinical medical assisting within the past five (5) years. OR Current professionally recognized medical assistant certification with a minimum of five (5) years of experience in clinical medical assisting. OR Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN). OR Licensed Paramedic/Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) with at least one-year clinical experience in clinical medical setting within the past five (5) years. OR Military trained medical personnel with at least one-year clinical experience in clinical medical setting within the past five (5) years. xsgimln Certifications/Licensures Required Current BLS-C upon hire or successful completion by end of orientation.
