About the Role
The Company is seeking a Managing Director of Board Relations and Governance to oversee and manage all board governance processes and policies that support its network of public charter schools. This strategic role is pivotal in ensuring the cohesion and high functioning of the organization's seven network support and regional boards. The successful candidate will be responsible for board content creation, meeting management, compliance with policies and bylaws, and the cultivation of board members. They will also serve as a key liaison between the CEO, Regional Executive Directors, and the Executive Team, and the Board Chairs, and will be expected to maintain a strong pipeline of potential board members within each region. The role requires a high degree of project management skills, the ability to manage multiple priorities, and close collaboration with various stakeholders.
Applicants for the Managing Director position should have a Bachelor's degree (advanced degree preferred) and at least 7 years' of relevant professional experience, with a minimum of 5 years' in managing multiple work areas and diverse teams. Key competencies include expertise in managing competing priorities, experience with compliance requirements, and a proven ability to lead change and engage stakeholders. The role demands a candidate with strong collaboration, problem-solving skills, and knowledge of board governance practices. The ideal candidate will have high ethical standards, be confident in engaging with senior leaders and board members, and demonstrate a commitment to the mission and educational model of the organization. Advanced proficiency in MS Office and Google Suite, as well as outstanding communication skills, are essential. The position is hybrid, with significant travel expected to board meetings across the three states.
