What it's like to be a Maintenance Director at Maintenance Director As the Full-Time Maintenance Director for the City of Pharr, you will play a pivotal role in developing and implementing city policies for building and grounds maintenance. You will plan and direct preventative maintenance schedules, emergency repairs, and capital improvement projects, ensuring the upkeep of facilities and green spaces. Practical experience is crucial, with a minimum of five years in facilities and grounds maintenance, including at least two years in a supervisory capacity. Familiarity with systems such as HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and landscaping is essential, along with knowledge of pertinent building and environmental codes. Proficiency in facility management software, work order systems, and Microsoft Office Suite will facilitate efficient operations. Strong project management and organizational skills are necessary to oversee maintenance projects and lead teams effectively. The ability to respond to emergencies and manage crisis situations is vital, as is bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish. A valid Texas Class "C" Driver's License and a satisfactory driving record are also required to fulfill the demands of this role. Knowledge and skills required for the position are: Bachelor’s degree in Facilities Management, Landscape Architecture, Horticulture, Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field from an accredited college or university. Completion of FEMA ICS Courses 100, 200, 700, and 800 required. Completion of ICS 300 and 400 preferred or required within six (6) months of employment. Minimum of five (5) years of progressively responsible experience in facilities and/or grounds maintenance, including at least two (2) years in a supervisory or management role. Experience with HVAC systems, plumbing, electrical, general construction, landscaping, and irrigation systems. Knowledge of applicable building and environmental codes and regulations (OSHA, ADA, fire safety, building codes, EPA standards, etc.). Proficiency with facility management software, work order systems, and Microsoft Office Suite. Strong project management, organizational, and leadership skills. Ability to respond to emergencies involving buildings or grounds during off-hours. Bilingual English/Spanish preferred.
