Overview Legal Director, Payments & Financial Services Strategic Partnerships. This is a senior leadership role focused on driving strategic deals with major fintech companies, card networks, and other financial players, and shaping payments integration strategies for our marketplace ecosystem and beyond. You will have a real seat at the table to advance our payments and financial services strategy for the next decade.
Responsibilities Juggler of Deals: Draft, negotiate, and advise on partnerships with payment processors and the launch of new financial products, guiding critical agreements that support global growth.
A Regulatory Whisperer: Navigate evolving payments and financial services regulations, translating complex legal concepts into clear, actionable guidance for rapid decision-making.
The Go-To Problem-Solver: Provide practical, strategic counsel to business teams, flag risks, and propose creative solutions to enable responsible innovation; help build a streamlined legal function.
Team Player Extraordinaire: Collaborate with a diverse set of stakeholders across the BizDev, product, and engineering teams worldwide to build the future of commerce.
What you'll need to Bring to the Table A J.D. from an accredited law school and an active license to practice law in at least one U.S. state.
10+ years of legal experience with a focus on commercial and strategic transactions in payments or fintech (including payment networks, card issuers, credit providers, acquirers/processors, fintechs, and financial institutions).
Proven track record handling high-stakes negotiations and advising on legal complexities of financial services products.
Technical understanding of the payments and financial ecosystem, relevant to merchants and marketplaces.
Familiarity with acquirers, card networks and their operating rules.
Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-growth environment with ambiguitiy and a bias for action.
Collaborative attitude and sense of humor; ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams.

Compensation & Benefits The applicable base pay range varies by location. For the San Francisco Bay Area, New York City Metro, and Seattle Metro: $205,600 - $274,500. For all other U.S. locations: $158,800 - $236,000. Base pay may vary based on location, skills, and experience. Total compensation may include bonus targets, restricted stock units, and a full range of benefits (401(k), PTO, parental leave, and more). At-will employment and potential modifications to compensation apply. Details of benefits will be provided with an offer.
