POSITION : SURGICAL TECHNOLOGY PROGRAM DIRECTOR/INSTRUCTOR
REPORTS TO: Dean of Allied Health
SALARY RANGE :Upper $70’s to low $80’s depending on education, qualifications and experience
EFFECTIVE: July 1, 2025 RESPONSIBILITIES
This position serves as Program Director and Instructor.It provides leadership and instruction for the Surgical Technology Program. As Program Director, is responsible for providing leadership in discipline to help ensure the quality and success of the department. Works with faculty to promote continuous improvement in the quality of instruction within the Surgical Technology program.Will coordinate, collect and submit input from program faculty on:
·Course offering rotations and scheduling recommendations for submission to Dean of Allied Health
·Instructional program planning and curriculum review, to include probe response reporting
·Surgical Technology program budgetary requests
·Program advisory committee meetings and documentation
·Accreditation and compliance documentation and administrative reports as requested
·Hiring, on-boarding and orientation of faculty for the Surgical Technology program
·Textbook and instructional material selection
·Student Learning Outcome documentation of assessment, data, and use of results
·Program marketing and recruitments efforts As Instructor, duties include:
·Develop program and course outlines, goals and objectives
·Prepare lesson plans
·Evaluate student progress
·Maintain program certification requirements as appropriate
·Advise and mentor students
·Assist with student recruitment, retention, and job placement efforts
·Prepares and maintains all required documentation and administrative reports
·Teaches Surgical Technology courses in a classroom/lab/field environment that closely simulates the environment of the industry, while maintaining knowledge of current trends and developments in the field
·Provides instruction in the theory and practical applications of Surgical Technology, and evaluates learning outcomes for continuous student and program success MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
·Associates degree in Surgical Technology from a regionally accredited college or university
·Certified as a Surgical Technologist through a national certifying credentialing organization accredited by the National Commission on Certifying Agencies (NCCA)
·Five (5) total years of experience, either in the operating room scrub role or as an instructor in surgical technology, or a combination of both, within the past ten (10) years TECHNICAL COMPETENCIES
·Ability to assist the Dean by providing leadership and with the development and execution of the operational plan for the Surgical Technology program
·Strong organizational and interpersonal skills, positive attitude, and professional attire.
·Ability to work flexible hours, and juggle multiple & competing priorities.
·Ability to supervise students in the classroom.
·Ability to develop and evaluate lesson plans.
·Ability to direct and assess students’ progress in achieving required competencies.
·Ability to observe and mentor faculty
·Ability to handle administrative responsibilities related to teaching of courses, data collection, and reporting for license agency, accreditation agencies, and the college.
·Effective oral and written communication skills
·Ability to foster professional relationships within the college’s service area PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
·Bachelor’s degree in a health-related field from a regionally accredited college or university
·Teaching experience in a health science related field at the postsecondary level
