Overview The News Director is responsible for writing and producing, reporting, scheduling and managing local news broadcasts and public affairs programs. Requirements include the ability to identify relevant news of local importance, develop news stories and public affairs programs that address local issues, demonstrate excellent writing skills and establish a good working relationship with local authorities and community leaders. Coordinate efforts to ensure the news department has a strong presence in the community. Write and update news for on-air, online, and mobile applications; support multimedia production and copywriting. On‑air delivery quality; utilize digital editing tools and multimedia skills; play-by-play skills are a plus with potential additional compensation. Qualifications News writing experience is required; aspiring Multimedia Journalists are encouraged to apply. Ability to demonstrate quality news writing and on‑air delivery, digital and multimedia skills, and an active interest in the local community. Compensation and Benefits Health insurance and a 401K plan with employer match. Paid vacation after the first year. Limited moving reimbursement and temporary housing; gas allowance and smartphone. Requirements Enclosed vehicle in good operating condition is a necessary requirement. Four-wheel, all-wheel, or front-wheel drive with good ground clearance is preferred given location and weather conditions.
