About Your Opportunity As Wohlsen’s Director of IT, you will lead and actively participate in delivering enterprise technology solutions, ensuring that systems, data, and infrastructure drive the business, not just support it.
This senior leadership role is designed for a working director—a strategic thinker who is also an executor.
You’ll collaborate across the organization to align systems and data with business goals, and you won’t hesitate to get in the trenches to solve problems, guide teams, or drive enterprise-level projects forward.
This is not a hands-off position—it’s a chance to shape and deliver technology that transforms how we work.
How You’ll Contribute:
· Strategic IT Leadership : Define and execute a strategic technology roadmap rooted in operational excellence, reliability, and business enablement.
Maintain alignment with company priorities and partner closely with the VP of Corporate Services. · ERP Leadership & Optimization :
Improve ERP adoption and usage across the business.
Engage directly with system users and owners to resolve issues, model workflows, improve data reliability, and drive meaningful improvements. · Strategic Project Delivery :
Own the execution of enterprise-wide, business-critical projects that rely on technology.
Partner with senior leaders and functional stakeholders to define scope, structure execution, manage vendor contributions, and ensure projects deliver measurable results. · I T Team Leadership & Development :
Lead and coach Wohlsen’s IT team—fostering an environment of clarity, accountability, and professional growth.
Provide structure and mentorship to elevate individual and team performance. Ensure roles are well-defined, stretch opportunities are provided, and career development is prioritized. Model hands-on leadership and ensure the Team sees you as an engaged, approachable resource, not just a decision-maker. · Enterprise Architecture :
Drive the design, development, and optimization of Wohlsen’s technology infrastructure, ensuring it is scalable, secure, and cost-effective.
Lead the continuous evaluation and upgrading of our technology stack. · Cybersecurity & Resilience :
Ensure implementation of cybersecurity best practices and business continuity measures.
Regularly assess risks and maintain a scalable defense posture. Develop and oversee comprehensive cybersecurity policies, processes, and training. Ensure compliance with industry regulations and best practices and implement measures to protect Wohlsen’s data and digital assets. · Data Strategy & Integration :
Work with internal and external resources to modernize reporting, eliminate technical debt, and transition toward ERP-native solutions.
Build internal capacity to manage APIs and data flows over time. Participate in development of databases, data lakes, and AI/BI strategy. · Vendor & Partner Management :
Establish strong, outcome-driven relationships with MSPs, software vendors, and integration partners.
Ensure value and accountability from all technology contracts. · IT Governance & Policy Development :
Implement and maintain IT policies and standards, including access management, data classification, and shadow IT risk mitigation.
Ensure compliance with legal and regulatory requirements. · Budget & Financial Oversight :
Oversee the IT budget, including operating and capital expenditures, to ensure efficient allocation of resources and alignment with business priorities. · Disaster Recovery and Business Continuity : Lead the design, implementation, and testing of disaster recovery and business continuity plans to ensure resilience and continuity of critical services. · Industry Knowledge: Maintain an up-to-date understanding of trends and advances in construction and enterprise technology.
Recommend and incorporate innovations that can elevate Wohlsen’s technological capabilities. Authority · Approve enterprise IT system changes aligned with company strategy · Approve departmental expenses within budgeted thresholds · Recommend external partnerships and contracts · Recommend IT staffing structure and personnel decisions Accountability · Ensure secure, stable, and highly available technology environments · Deliver technology-enabled project outcomes on time and on budget · Improve ERP and core platform utilization across departments · Build internal IT team capability and reduce reliance on unsustainable external resources · Maintain vendor relationships that enhance business flexibility and scale Relationships · Reports to VP of Corporate Services · Manages IT Team · Collaborates with peers Qualifications · Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field · 10+ years of IT experience with leadership roles in ERP, infrastructure, and project delivery · Track record of leading cross-functional initiatives and managing external partners · Construction or professional services industry experience preferred · Strong communicator capable of translating between technical and business audiences · Deep understanding of cybersecurity, enterprise architecture, and business process improvement · Ability to promote and embody Wohlsen’s vision, values, and commitment to operational excellence · Ability to work additional hours to meet business plan objectives Physical Requirements In a normal day, this position requires little to no standing or walking. In a normal day, the employee must be able to sit for 7+ hours. In a normal day, the employee must be able to drive 1-4 hours. Employee must be able to lift/carry up to 10 lbs. maximum; occasionally carry small objects.
