Essential Duties and Responsibilities • Annually reviews and makes recommendations to executive management for improvement of the agency’s policies, procedures, and practices on personnel matters.
• Maintains knowledge of industry trends and employment legislation and ensures agency’s compliance.
• Maintains responsibility for compliance with federal and state legislation pertaining to all personnel matters.
• Communicates changes in agency personnel policies and procedures and ensures proper compliance is followed.
• Assists executive management in the annual review, preparation, and administration of agency wage and salary program.
• Coordinates or conducts exit interviews to determine reasons behind separation.
• Consults with legal counsel as appropriate, or as directed by the President, on personnel matters.
• Works directly with department managers to assist them in carrying out their responsibilities on personnel matters.
• Recommends, evaluates and participates in staff development for the agency.
• Supervises the staff of the human resource department.
• Participates on committees and special projects and seeks additional responsibilities
• Maintain a clean and safe work area. LANGUAGE SKILLS:
• Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common business journals and reports.
• Ability to respond professionally to common inquiries and/or complaints from vendors, internal staff, or members of the college community.
• Ability to effectively present information.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:
• Ability to apply mathematical operations to such tasks as budget preparation, frequency distribution, determination of test reliability and validity, analysis of variance, correlation techniques, sampling theory, and factor analysis.
REASONING ABILITY:
• Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
• Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
• Ability to persuade and influence superiors, peers, and subordinates.
OTHER SKILLS and ABILITIES:
• Understanding of and commitment to the unique nature and role of the College and to the philosophy of the community college system. Required Qualifications Associate in Applied Science in Business Administration or related field; two years of experience in an HR Office or two years of management experience; experience in an educational office setting. Preferred Qualifications Bachelors Degree in Business Administration. Five years of experience in HR office, proficiency in the use of integrated software; strong organizational skills with ability to coordinate multiple tasks and schedules; excellent communication and interpersonal skills for interacting with faculty, staff and students.
