POSITION SUMMARY:

Conway Medical Center is seeking a dynamic and visionary leader to serve as the Physician Director of our Cancer Care service line. This is a unique opportunity to shape the future of cancer care in our community by leading a well-established program into its next phase of growth. The Physician Director will integrate into an important role in providing world class patient care, expanding clinical services, mentoring providers, and elevating patient-centered care across the service line.

The Godwin Healing Center is affiliated with the Duke Cancer Network, which provides access to advanced clinical trials, the latest cancer research, and best practices. This relationship also provides continuous staff education and training, enhancing the overall quality of care for patients.

At CMC, were focused on growing and strengthening our hematology/oncology program, and were looking for a leader who can help take it to the next level. Our Godwin Healing Center is an affiliate of the Duke Cancer Network, giving us access to advanced research, clinical trials, and nationally recognized best practices. This means we provide top-tier cancer care locally while benefiting from the resources and expertise of a major academic institution. POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:

Diagnose and treat a wide range of cancer and blood disorders while providing exceptional care. Lead and mentor a growing team of physicians, APPs, and oncology nurses Collaborate with hospital leadership and Duke Cancer Network experts Improve or enhance clinic workflows and ensure high-quality, evidence-based care Develop and launch new treatment services or community outreach initiatives in partnership with system leadership. Engage in strategic planning to expand the oncology service line

POSITION OVERVIEW:

Outpatient role Standard office hours (Mon-Fri / 8am-5pm) Protected administrative time (8+ hours per week) Practice Call Schedule: Shared call schedule, 1:4 rotation for patient care needs through telephone calls - also supported by after-hours nurse triage. Support Staff: The physician will have a team consisting of their own clinic support staff, an APP, and a robust specialized oncology nursing team. 4 Physicians and 3 APPs EMR: Cerner

CURRENT PATIENT VOLUME & CENSUS:

Average Patient Volume: 15-20 patients per day Patient Census: Adult patients with a wide range of cancers and hematologic disorders, from early-stage to advanced.

VISIT TYPES AND PROCEDURES:

40% Oncology and 60% Hematology Visit types: Initial cancer diagnosis, treatment planning, chemotherapy follow-ups, and management of hematologic conditions like anemia and clotting disorders. Procedures: Bone marrow biopsies, port insertions, etc.

FACILITIES & SUPPORT:

Clinic/Facility: 10-chair infusion center, onsite lab and pharmacy, two additional infusion centers on campus (1 general/1 rheumatology) Imaging/Diagnostics: PET scanning, 64-slice CT, 3-D mammography, breast MRI, high-definition endoscopy/bronchoscopy Tumor Boards: Bi-weekly for breast, PCC, GI, and ENT Surgical Referrals: Includes breast, colorectal, and vascular; Bone marrow transplants referred to Charleston (MUSC or Roper St Francis) ACGME Accredited: Medical students, CMC Family Medicine Residency, transitional year, Sports Medicine Fellowship program Research & Trials: Currently no active clinical trials; aligned with Duke for access to approximately 450 protocols Currently undergoing submission to become accredited by The American College of Surgeons Commission on Cancer.
