This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility. Under the direction of the CEO, the Gymnastics Director will provide remarkable member experiences in the areas of gymnastics & birthday parties by improving the overall program quality. Qualifications Two plus years of gymnastics coaching experience. Experience supervising others is preferred.
Knowledge and proficient understanding of YMCA & USAG professional membership and USAG safety certification.
Must have great interpersonal, leadership, public relations, and communication skills.
The ideal candidate will not only possess knowledge of the YMCA mission and values but will already be working to manifest these ideals in all aspects of life. Essential Functions Direct, schedule, and supervise program activities to meet the needs of the community and fulfill YMCA objectives.
Plan and implement developmentally appropriate lesson plans and lead class instruction of parent/tot, preschool, and school-age gymnastics.
Responsible for supervising, training, and scheduling program staff.
Instructs gymnastics classes in accordance with YMCA guidelines & learn USAG rules and routines as needed.
Ability to instruct and observe participants in proper gymnastic techniques.
Ability to lift and move equipment, and to lift and spot children in the program.
Learn/maintain proper spotting techniques while instructing classes lesson and/or team practices.
Enforce gym rules to maintain safety.
Compiles program statistics to monitor & evaluate the effectiveness of and participation in programs.
Participate in staff meetings and/or related meetings.
Responds to all member & community inquiries & complaints in a timely manner.
Develops & monitors program budget to meet fiscal objectives.
Assists in the marketing of the gymnastics program.
Assists in YMCA fundraising activities & special events.
Participates in ‘Manager on Duty’ Schedule.
Understand and follow all safety rules and regulations including knowledge of emergency procedures and location of emergency equipment.
Promotes and incorporates the Norfolk Family YMCA four core values and character development model into all program activities.
