Overview Job Title: Global Medical Director, Rare Hematology Location: Cambridge, MA About the Role The Global Medical Director for Rare Hematology will act as the medical lead for a product in the Sanofi Rare Hematology portfolio. The global medical director is accountable for global medical strategy, alignment across functions, and execution of Global medical activities related to investigator and expert outreach, evidence generation (e.g., investigator-sponsored trials, company-sponsored non-registration studies, real-world evidence), publications, CME, and other medical affairs activities (e.g., medical congresses). This role collaborates with Sanofi Global and Country Medical Affairs, Clinical Development, Health Economics and Value Assessment (HEVA), Commercial, Market Access, and Regulatory functions, and reports to the Global Head of Rare Hematology Medical Affairs. The position requires the ability to work effectively in a highly matrixed environment, strong teamwork and interpersonal skills, and the commitment to highest ethical, regulatory, and scientific standards. Main Responsibilities Develop and execute the global medical affairs strategy for the Rare Hematology products. Ensure a patient-centered approach to development of medical affairs activities. Lead medical affairs data generation activities, including study protocols, management of company-sponsored clinical studies and real-world evidence studies. Provide medical expertise for medical education activities and publication plans. Establish and maintain strong relationships with experts in the relevant disease area. Organize and lead medical insight gathering activities (e.g., advisory boards) per the medical affairs plan. Review externally facing promotional and medical materials. Provide expertise and guidance to country medical teams to ensure outstanding scientific engagement globally and to enhance medical education. Responsible for budget planning of medical activities. Provide medical expertise and input into Global Marketing, Market Access, and HEVA projects. Contribute as a medical expert to regulatory interactions and document development. Travels: Travels (both internationally and within the US) as necessary. About You Basic Qualifications Medical doctor (i.e., MD or MD/PhD). At least 10 years of experience combining pharmaceutical industry and/or healthcare clinical services. A solid track record of peer-reviewed scientific publications, including expertise in Rare Diseases. Preferred Qualifications Previous clinical experience in rare diseases, inborn errors of metabolism or hematology. Excellent communication and presentation skills with the ability to present scientific data clearly, credibly, and balanced. Ability to interface professionally with a wide spectrum of internal and external academicians, regulatory agencies, HTA, payers, and industry executives in the scientific/medical arena.
