Job Description:
This position will create and provide leadership for a new Master of Science in Physician Assistant Studies (MSPAS) at York College of Pennsylvania. The successful candidate will utilize and create innovative and smart Physician Assistant Studies (PAS) program curriculum development, course development, designs of innovative students learning, student advising/mentoring models, as well as initiate internship and clinical placements initiatives, and co-op development. It is expected that this position will take the lead and be responsible for state (PA), regional (Middle States) and national (ARC-PA) accreditation processes, until an entry-level MSPAS program is approved to start in the fall of 2025. The position is a 12-month full-time position that reports directly to the Dean, Myers School of Nursing and Health Professions. Subject to budgetary approval, this position will be available July 1, 2024.
Assure provisional ARC-PA accreditation process and approval, continuous program accreditation, and the development of policies and procedures for the commencement of PAS entry-level programs with a target start-date of fall 2025 for the first cohort of students. (20%)
Develop innovative PAS curricula for both residential and blended (Hybrid) modes of instruction, using a practitioner-scientist model for entry-level professionals who will enter the field of Physician Assistant Studies. (10%)
Develop innovative PAS combined degree curricula, such as PAS/MPH, PAS/MBA, PAS/MS PAS/DHs, etc. (10%)
Lead searches that will ensure talented faculty and staff for the PAS program are hired. (5%)
Design/develop curricula maps, curriculum assessment plans, and templates for all courses in all the PAS curricula. (10%)
Assure the development and delivery plan of an up-to-date curriculum in alignment with professional and industry recommendations and best practices. (5%)
Develop, revise, prepare, and deliver course plans and materials in areas of expertise (20%)
Create innovative models for clinical internships and clinical placements locally, in the region and nationally. Work with major strategic clinical Healthcare System partners in the area, such as WellSpan, UPMC, Penn State Health, etc. (10%)
Work with the Dean to develop student recruitment, advising/mentoring plans. (2%)
Contribute to the continued development and success of the school through leadership and development of curricula with interprofessional education as one of the major components. (6%)
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. (2%)
Requirements:
Demonstrate a track record and a minimum of 10 years' experience in ARC-PA, Pennsylvania and Middle States accreditation of PAS programs.
Possesses an entry-level Physician Assistant degree from an ARC-PA accredited program.
An academic doctoral degree in a related area awarded by a regionally accredited institution. Applicants with strong credentials without an academic doctorate degree will be considered.
Current and unrestricted Physician Assistant license in the State of Pennsylvania
A minimum of 8 years of full-time documented experience in the field of Physician Assisting including a minimum 10 years of experience in a full-time academic appointment with teaching responsibilities at the graduate level as a core faculty member in an ARC-PA accredited entry-level PAS program.
7-10 years' experience as program director of a graduate entry-level PAS program.
1-3 years experience within online or hybrid programs is highly desired.
Excellent communication skills and have a strong commitment to working as part of a collaborative team in the Department of Health Professions, the Myers School, and throughout all York College of Pennsylvania departments and schools.
Ability to work collaboratively across disciplines, departments, schools, faculty, staff, and the community, healthcare industry.
Ability to successfully interact with students, other faculty, staff and College administration and the community, in a professional manner.
Ability to organize, multitask and prioritize multiple assignments.
Excellent computer skills, familiarity with G-Suite, Windows environment and MS Office products.
Ability to work with minimal supervision.
Must be deadline oriented.
