Position Overview:
The Finance Director (AR) position is critical in the successful operation of the organization by strategically managing accounts receivable, invoicing, deposits, internal financial reporting, store inventory counts, eventually leading the Annual Audit and Budget Process, and maintaining GAAP standards and well-kept internal procedures. This position is a leadership role for the organization and involved in important strategic financial decisions.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Accounts Receivable:
Create invoices, receive and post payments, make weekly deposits, and generate AR and Promises-to-Give reports showing unpaid payments and pledges monthly. Manages our post office boxes and includes mail retrieval. Work closely with our Fundraising & Development team to ensure a cohesive donor database system (Bloomerang) and accounting system (QuickBooks) for all contributions. Assist with grant budget creation and reporting. Manages our Payment Merchant Systems for all incoming payments. Manages recurring invoicing relationships with internal departments and external partnerships Internal Monthly Reporting: Generate internal profit & loss statements for each department, AR and PTG reports, Revenue and Cashflow reports. Restrictred Account Management: Management and balancing of restricted accounts on the Balance Sheet Gift Store Accounting: Comply with local, state, and federal government reporting requirements: File and pay local and state sales tax monthly and quarterly. Conduct inventory counts throughout the year for our three gift shops. Collaborate with partners to provide necessary reporting for our Cost-Share Agreements. Manage the point of sale and merchant payment systems used in all stores. Manage the annual Budget Process (early Spring): Train to lead the Budget Process and export, format, and distribute budget worksheets. Eventual leading of the annual budget process and work with department heads and President to provide the most accurate and comprehensive planning, tracking and reconciliation outcomes that maintain the organization's ability to meet its fiscal obligations and fulfill its mission. Manage the Annual Audit (early Fall): Train to lead on our Annual Audit, working closely with the whole Finance team to close our Fiscal Year (June 30) and prepare electronic and in person field audit tasks. Eventual leading ofthe annual financial audit by working independently, with others in the organization, with an external unbiased auditor and ultimately through the audit itself. Establish and maintain procedures throughout the year to facilitate the audit process. 990 creation and generation with auditor firm. Vendor Contracts: Point of contact for our vendor contacts including IT, Xerox, Property Management, Insurance Renewals, etc. Maintain organization's accounting policies and procedures: Train new staff on policies and procedures as they are hired and conduct on-going training for all staff on policies and procedures. Fundraising Department Collaboration: Work closely with the Fundraising & Development team and President to record, reconcile and report on fundraising income as well as to strategize and advise on financial matters and resource allocation. Assist in special event support for Development as needed. Computer and Database Work: Work daily in QuickBooks, Windows Programs, Google Suite, and Bloomerang. Continue looking to further streamline, automate, and digitize internal processes and systems. General: With the President and Senior Director of Finance, address changing organization financial needs during times of both growth and austerity. Provide financial analyses as needed, in particular for capital investments, pricing decisions and contract negotiations. Maintain an orderly physical and electronic accounting filing system. Participate in key decisions as a member of senior management. Participate on 1-2 internal committees. Attend monthly all staff and strategic team meetings. Attend staff retreats in fall and spring each year. Special projects and assignments as needed. Other duties as assigned. Requirements
Qualifications:
Required: Degree in related field required. Strategic organizational thinking. Strong computer, organizational, and communication skills. Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel as well as financial software. Demonstrated ability to organize, prioritize, and multi-task efficiently. Minimum five years of experience working in accounting or finance. Ability to effectively work on diverse teams or with a diverse range of people. Demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion. Must be able to work in a flexible, change-oriented environment. Work as a team player and maintain positive attitude in a friendly work environment. Preferred: Direct experience with QuickBooks. Experience working with a non-profit or similar environment. Work Environment:
This position primarily works in an indoor office environment during Monday-Friday office hours. Some occasional evening and weekend work may be required for other special projects/events.
Compensation and Benefits: Starting salary $75,000+ dependent on experience. Benefits are competitive and include medical and dental insurance and a 401K retirement program with match. Genrous time off package includes 8 paid holidays + 4 floating paid holidays, 15 days paid vacation to start and increasing incrementally on an annual basis until a maximum of 25 days is reached, and 12 sick days Professional development opportunities Discounted ski pass.
